One could argue that Edward Norton and Robert Downey Jr are too recognizable as actors to pull off their characters but RDJ did it phenomenally and Norton looks to have done the same. I think Pitt as Thor would come off as Thor and not Pitt. The guy is a great actor and people don't really give him enough credit because of what happens off screen....I mean he's not Tom Cruise or anything so cut the guy some slack.

Norton and Downey Jr aren't on the cover of every single tabloid rag every single week... or at the beginning of every single entertainment news broadcast/commercial... Pitt is.

All the more reason to do the film and really set himself apart from his personal persona. As focused and serious as he was for Troy, I wouldn't put it past him to knock THOR out of the park....

I hate limelight whores. And I dont think Brad Pitt even nicks the surface of falling into that category.
He's just a very popular actor who married a hot, very popular actress and started a family.
Its the media putting him on those covers, not his own attention-getting actions...

I think I stated that earlier... and I'm in total agreement. However he's in the collective consciousness now due to the media spotlight and that has a tendency to burst the willing suspension of disbelief bubble in a hurry.

He might be able to pull it off but I don't see size as a problem. The studio could treat him like they did Eric Banna. Normal would be Pitt and the rest could be CGI. Pitt's not my first choice and I think they need to still be looking.

Whoever they cast as Thor HAS to have a major physical presence... It's going to be hard to find someone with both the acting ability and physicality to pull that off.
