The Media and those select groups really getting to you eh? You should start a petition against all Media. That'll show them.

?? Sounds like I struck a nerve with you? Sorry about that. I'm not trying to offend anyone for liking/enjoying the movie. I'm just stating the obvious. I don't want to turn anything into a political discussion.

And the media will always report what's happening in society, whether it's a movie or a school shooting, the goal is to attack and fuel the emotions of people. That's their job.

And where does it sound like the media is getting to me? Petitions, really?

Don’t get me wrong dude. Im not saying its the best. Its far from it. But it IS a success regardless. And i really don’t think its because of an agenda. So many movies pushes agendas. Not all performs this well. And yeah i did read about that wakanda hotel search. Not sure if its because they dont know comic books or thats aren’t that bright lol

This movie reminds me a lot of titanic.
Average movie that the world went crazy over it

Why did titanic do so well? It isnt even camerons best movie.

Yes. I do agree with this parallel. The right movie at a perfect time.

I guess avatar is guilty of that too.

These movies are ok but did well beyond thanks to hype or something

Titanic was very average. It actually drags a lot in the middle

Yes you do. You and a few others in here.

No, it's the people running around waving their hands in the air in triumph suggesting that this movie is more than it is. It's a movie about an imaginary character and an imaginary place. It is not a recreation of history, or a drama about something happening currently in society. Like it/dislike it for what it is. A comic book movie.

The fact that it's an all black cast, save for the 2 white guys, and black director is the center of attention. This goes beyond the quality of the storytelling. It's being touted as a historic event in cinema history. There is a black writer for Marvel, Christopher Priest, who is furious right now with Marvel. The below article is a good read to show what's happening in the entertainment industry. But articles/interviews like this don't make it to the evening news.

https://smokeroom.com/2018/03/02/comic-book-writer-calls-out-industry/

There are comics with black characters, written by black writers, and penciled by black artists. But those aren't flying of the news stands/comic shelves. And Marvel gets grilled when they cancel these under performing titles. Where's the support for those?

I won't say anymore about these topics. Everyone, enjoy the movie for whatever reasons you'd like. :)

Yeah, movies have been doing this since the beginning of time.

Example: Around the World in 80 Days best picture. Really? Ever seen it? It's ridiculous. Cable's been running The Turning Point from 1977, anyone remember that one? No, of course not -- its unwatchable today. But back then this movie was huge. Crocodile Dundee. Really? Huge. On and on. Most of the time it means nothing. Hell, even the luster of Wonder Woman's success is passé already.

That said, I think this one will stick. Not only has it reached a significant milestone at the boxoffice, its character will be forwarded into two massive CBM sequels already (meaning IW)... so the luster will be propelled. I think this is a movie people will continue to point to.

Hell, as I said in the other thread, I think Disney's already planning The Adventures of Lando Calrissian instead of Kenobi.

Yeah... **** your “fellow whites.” I’m sure you enjoyed typing all that nonsense.

Nope I did not but i’m just reporting what’s being said in private I don’t live in a vacuum i’m surrounded by all walks of life and these conversations happen.

You’re scolding me yet you don’t even know what my response to those statements even was.

You’re prejudging me just for reporting what is being said in private.

Yeak Loki is wrong about this movie being forgotten in the history books.

This movie will absolutely be recorded in the history books for its cultural significance.

It will be taught in filmmaking schools and achieve historical record keeping.

Coogler just reached MLK status, for real.

I don't think this movie is that significant that it will be of historical record. But I do think its a milestone for Hollywood in the sense that there's apparently a very large audience with now proven super-exploitation power beyond Tyler Perry. Hollywood will go overboard of course as it always does.

To bad it won't be remembered for being all it is. A movie.

The Shining is remembered for being a great movie. No agenda needed.

No, it is significant and will be recorded in books. And definitely in film school. What I meant was it won't be taught to children in public schools, or in their US History text books. Kids aren't gonna go home and discuss with their parents the time BP came out in the cinemas and unified a nation, or changed the public's perception on racism.

It absolutely will i’m not kidding when I say that Coogler has reached MLK status the guy still might get a holiday after this lol

Well BP wasn’t going to be able to avoid the agenda angle just because it was a first.

I think in black families kids will absolutely be discussung this film in those terms they’re already interviewing families who have said those discussions are already taking place.

I think whites recognize this movie is HUGE for blacks.

Just saying that some statements reek of passive agressiveness. No black person ever made a big deal out of The Avengers, which had fewer black characters than BP had whites, having an "agenda" like SOME people are doing over this film. I'm Mexican as **** and don't need every freaking movie to be Machete or else I'd feel endangered or some ****. :lol

We are all human and make mistakes, some folks could give empathy a try, that's all. :dunno
