I literally just shoveled the driveway less than an hour ago. And my kids HAD AN EFFING SNOW DAY TODAY. Two weeks into Spring, in April an *effing snow day.* What the hell. :lol

snow? whats that?

I had no idea the whole middle part of S Florida was really just swamp and gators. Like not even many gas stations.:horror

I was in Naples for a few weeks and went in search of my preconceived notions of Florida (Keys, Miami, Everglades, Harry Potter world,) and it involved a lot of driving thru marshland.

I lived there a few years because my wife was raised in So Cal and wanted to live in a sunny location that didn't break the bank. Big mistake. Go hit a theme park in the spring or fall like normal people and then get the hell out, lol.

what was the problem (genuinely asking) what bothered you about it? what were the cons?

Was it just what you listed earlier?

Yeah, all the stuff I mentioned for the most part and I never felt like there was a real sense of community there. It was like everyone moved there from somewhere else and had no built in history or pride in their own state. And I just hated the muggy heat that lasted 10 months of the year and then when it's finally bearable in December it gets dark at freaking dinner time, lol. That was my experience anyway. I don't mean to knock on where you live, obviously a lot of people love it and would think I'm crazy for living in a place with frigid winters but FL just wasn't for me.

It was definitely sweet getting to just drive a little over an hour to two separate SW Celebrations though. :)

Yeah, my wife's parents went there as snow birds and have now bought, so it's me and Florida hand-in-hand from now on.:lol I loved the Everglades and the Keys (big Bloodline fan.)

I don't love Harry Potter - dragged by kids - but that park was the coolest thing ever, even if just to experience the infectious intense shared love of HP (as if the kids' obsession wasn't enough.)

To be fair to Florida, I was only in S Florida and didn't get above Ft Lauderdale on the East. Naples is like a Shopping-Mall-City-State. But Judge Judy does live there. Rick Perry's mansion seems like its a tourist attraction.
