I dont really have to deal with most of the bad stuff. Bugs, if you close your doors and have screens you dont really have to deal with. Florida doesnt have as many bugs as people think in the city areas. the swamps are full, but the cities are fumigated so i never deal with crazy mosquitoes or anything.
same with aligators, Ive never seen one actually. never heard of anyone having problems with it. never go too deep in the sea either so i stay in the shore.

Drivers for me were much much worse in other states actually. AC takes care of the heat, the heat is great for working out. after a while you just get used to the heat and you crave it.

Hurricanes affect the entire coast up to new york so thats not a florida thing. North and South carolina get hit by them pretty bad.

I think i rather live in the heat and deal with some humidity than freeze my head off and have to shovel snow and deal with the dangerous slippery roads and stuff lol

Yeah, my wife's parents went there as snow birds and have now bought, so it's me and Florida hand-in-hand from now on.:lol I loved the Everglades and the Keys (big Bloodline fan.)

I don't love Harry Potter - dragged by kids - but that park was the coolest thing ever, even if just to experience the infectious intense shared love of HP (as if the kids' obsession wasn't enough.)

To be fair to Florida, I was only in S Florida and didn't get above Ft Lauderdale on the East. Naples is like a Shopping-Mall-City-State. But Judge Judy does live there. Rick Perry's mansion seems like its a tourist attraction.

did you do both potter rides? did you like them? did it make you nauseous?
what was your favorite part of those parks outside of potter? I really really love kong and love spiderman

what was the problem (genuinely asking) what bothered you about it? what were the cons?

Was it just what you listed earlier?

Just as I was a bit creeped out when I drove through both Lockerbie and Dunblane on a day's drive in Scotland, its a bit weird having driven through both Parkland and Orlando recently as a visitor (I was in Orlando only about a month before the Pulse thing.) But I guess you can say the same thing about anywhere, so its really not fair esp as an outsider.

If there was a problem I had with Florida is its like Honolulu where there's these gorgeous overdone manicured facades for tourists in so many places and I really had a hard time finding the "real" Florida. in the end, talking to people in stores and restaurants around S Florida was the most fun - found the real Florida that way. The real Florida wasn't a particular place like I thought, its kind of a mindset. I was expecting lots of open-carry stuff but didn't see much at all, my own preconcpetions, but the people I chatted with were interesting and funny - esp in the Keys.

I gotta go back again end of this year. North of Sarasota I go.:lecture

We did all HP rides multiple times. There's this website that tracks HP crowds that was handy. The train was awesome.

To me, Potter was so far beyond all the rest of the rides and themes/worlds. The kids liked the Minions ride and a few others, but Diagon (?) Alley was better than anything else at Universal or Disney I thought, and as I said, I'm really only into Potter because of the kids.

This costumed woman at the store that sells all the wands and tricks (the twins from the movie) - you could tell she loved-LOVED HP and here she was working at this shop inside the HP world. That was magic seeing how happy she was to work there. Those were the type of things that stayed with me - seeing kids arriving in that alley for the first time. That's the magic that transcends my cynicism.

Back to cynicism, yeah its expensive because some friggin bean counter spread it over two parks.:lol I lost count at $1000 only because my wife told me to.

I seem to recall recently hearing that - stated with indignation, backed up by sad-faced kids - on a faux-beach at Universal's Cabana Bay Beach Resort with Shrek playing on a big screen blaring in the background.

I've seen armored personnel carriers and national Guardsmen with M-16s stationed on Wilshire Blvd. Hey, it was L.A. in the 90's. For a while there it seemed like the world was ending.:lecture

While his words about The Lousy Jedi were true, I can't say that I miss his excessive posts... Plus his occasional misspelling of words and improper use of spacing really triggered my OCD. :lol

No Joker gif?:dunno

It seems like its the standard final salute around here.
