So really this film is an allegory for Trump’s America only it’s truly pandering to Hollywood liberals need to vindicate themselves thru self righteousness.

Got it

Apparently those reviewers have no problems with the idea of Wakanda and keeping people out..

Grace pointed out that this film generally ignores the MCU... that’s not a good look when we are eagerly anticipating the Infinity War films. The build up for IW is a 10 year work in progress, the director chose to make this film political. I’m sure it will be entertaining but it’s already been established it’s not really a superhero movie... more of a “hey we are HERE, we matter, give us your validation, we are important too”

If this movie is supposed to change the way people view black culture, from the sounds of it they’ve made it less inclusive and more exclusive.

For **** sake Grace compared this film to Roots... she forgot to mention that since Roots first premiered there’s been a black president, Secretary of State, Beyoncé Jay Z Serena Williams, a bucket load of other public figures that dominate their respective fields from the African American community.

“So this is how white people feel everyday”

There’s been all black films before that makes no sense to trivialize it. It’s not a coincidence the trailer repeats “the revolution will not be televised”.

I’m still interested in seeing this but I’m not drinking the Kool Aid, this film should not have been about politics, but as assumed it has.

I'm sick of Black Panther and I haven't even seen it yet. The coverage of this movie has been nauseating.

Yep. I started out so hyped. Then the frenzy and just getting an idea of what the film actually contained eroded that. At least for me, this doesnt't feel like an MCU movie. It feels like a Ryan Coogler statement/poltical movie that has a Marvel sugar coating.

Sure, couple of actors we saw before make an appearance. And one of the things I liked about the MCU is the stamp different directors put on their films. But I also enjoy the connectedness, especially with films set on Earth. Guardians logically wouldn't have contact yet. But even the small remark from Antman -about calling the Avengers - to me telegraphs currentness e.g. awareness of the Avengers, DS, WS. Which adds continuity to a larger story. I like that. You'd expect that to happen IMO. Ragnarok even pokes fun at Thor being dumped so we can guess the Avengers are kinda viewed as modern celebrities. It's fun.

And even the Time mag article sez the lack of that kind of thing in BP may not be for everyone. Well, OK. Then this isn't the "buildup to IW" movie I expected. It's a stand-alone. It's not the first MCU movie to have a political slant, but do I really want to watch another film that takes a dig at the U.S. for not doing enough? The U.S. isn't perfect but we have given a lot in aid at home and abroad, so I get tired of that kind of thing. Ordinary people, who head to earthquake and flood areas and collect money and on and on...

So for me it's a question of do I wanna see a Ryan Coogler movie that's kinda poltical, with family drama and some cool aesthetics. Play along with Marvel as they try to set up characters well ahead of time, so that when RDJ and Evans etc. leave their contracts, there wil be a ready-made cash cow to replace the audience (possibly) that bails too. If I am a consumer of a product, and a product is released (like a book) that IMO isn't what was originally anticipated, then I'm gonna think harder about spending on it.

The moment RDJ, Evans, all the originals leave, is the moment it'll all start crumbling down. A Doctor Strange Trilogy might still happen, but the juggernaut that was the MCU will die. And honestly it's for the best. I want to go back to the times of Trilogies. I had my fun with the MCU, I still love it, but I'm over the whole thing now. I want a political/espionage/sci-fi drama Iron Man. I want a hard supernatural Doctor Strange. A mythological epic Thor.

I just want to see what they are gonna do with xmen and Spider-Man. Could care less about anyone else .

That's the size of it.

Instead of sticking to their ideals in this political climate, they'll turn a blind eye to it in this instance.

It's uncanny.

The irony of the whole "black in front and behind the camera" crap is that in the end it was only made because a bunch of white/jewish people needed to milk the niche. :lol

But isn't Wakanda in infinity War? So maybe this is just a little background on the locale for a big fight scene.

I just want to know one spoiler

Is the soul stone revealed in this film or do we have to wait until May for IW pt1?

Yes. And no. I mean I can kinda figure out an African location. I guess the main Wakandan? city might need background, and the tech (which we didn't see in CW that much except for the suit and T'challa's plane).

If in IW there's hand-to-hand fighting in the Wakanda city and/or the vibranium mines, yeah, I might need some background. If it's open plains/jungle probably not.
Unless there's something really unique to Wakanda that would affect a fight - like maybe an area like that has volcano activity and is a perfect place to force an enemy into to get gassed w. sulphur fumes, or a river where everyone in Wakanda KNOWS there are big *** crocodiles and agressive hippos.

It'd be nice IMO if Wakanda had siafu - the African driver (army) ant - in BP. Then Antman could show up re IW later and the siafu could be attacking the Outriders. Siafu kill by getting into the lungs and can skeletonize a man in around 4 hours. E.g. Connectivity in the MCU. African killer bees could be useful too. And mambas which are supposedly bad tempered in general

Yep. No different than the U.S. targeting outside-U.S. markets as gold mines.

Does it matter if your consumer base is happy? It's the American free market way - target a potential market and make something that sells. Marvel's got me over a barrel anyway - I'll be there for IW no matter how irritated I am about what BP or Thor might have been.

I guess the bean-counter analysts ran the numbers and figured the 10-year MCU fan is probably expendable - 10 years in, fan interest changes, time to target a different demographic $$$$ bring on Fantastic Four and BP and next up Captain Marvel and probably a Hispanic or Asian superhero.

I get it:google. I just think it's happening too fast, for me:(. That there could have been a few more MCU movies w. BW/WS/Hawkeye/Cap etc. before all this, instead of cramming everything into IW 1 & 2 along with new characters on top of it. The paltry "prelude" comics don't make up for it, either, as far as filling things out.
