Looks like the CE is sold out I'm glad I put my order in a couple of months ago.

FYI for those who snoozed on reserving the CE... some Best Buy stores still have some available to pre-order. Better do it quick, though. GameStop's (including online) were all reserved before Christmas. :google

Can't wait for this game. The first one was great (aside from a few tech hiccups) and it's BioWare. I don't need to read a single friggin' review to know that this will rock.

The PC CE is still available at a stores in my area. So, if you can't get one for Xbox, then you'll still have a choice, if your pc can run it.

To be honest, the only standout feature of the CE over the standard is the non-ridiculously-bad box art. The art on the regular cover is pretty bland.

The Art Book and behind-the-scenes stuff will be more than worth it, though.

Oh, definitely. Don't get me wrong, the art book and stuff will probably be cool, but it's the stuff one expects in a CE. No one expected the box art on the regular version to be so boring (and some say, awful), so the CE box is quite eye-catching.

The included art book is cool, but I'm willing to assume it'll be like previous art books included with games like GoW2, Assassin's Creed II, Dead Space, etc etc. I hope a full art book is released later on, like the one for the first Mass Effect, which was a separate book bundled with the limited edition strategy guide.

I totally forgot there was a CE for ME2 (It didn't help that I asked someone at Gamestop in December if there was any special editions for the game and he said no... moron...). Thankfully, the EA website still had it on pre-order, so hopefully, they're not just teasing me (as the order confirmation went through) and I'll be able to snag it. :D

Day 1 Mass Effect 2 DLC Rumoured, BioWare Responds
Written Saturday, January 16, 2010 by Dan Webb

The next place to be added on to the list of strange places to find news is Norwegian newspaper DagBladet, who recently reported that Mass Effect 2 will have day 1 DLC.

The newspaper states that this downloadable content would feature new armour, new weapons and an unlockable planet. Wait, that's not the best bit, they also state that there will be a new potential ally as well; a human bounty hunter by the name of Zaeed Messani (pictured below).

Now originally we weren't sure if this was true or not, although the picture did pay some credence to it, but thanks to a response from BioWare, you'd have to assume it was true.

BioWare responded on their Twitter recently, "Addressing rumors: BioWare will not be charging extra for any new Mass Effect 2 content on launch day. More DLC details next week."

So whether it's this piece of DLC or another piece that's unannounced, it looks like we can expect Day 1 DLC... and for free nevertheless. Of course that's speculation and we won't know for certain till next week when BioWare officially announces it.

In addition to the DLC rumour, we can bring you the latest character trailer, this time the limelight falls on the big man himself, Commander Shepard.

Not long left now for the North American release date. This should tide you over for at least another few minutes.

Mass Effect 2 Download Content Plans Unveiled
New in-game pipeline will give players access to new content, news.
by Jim Reilly

January 19, 2010 - Today BioWare unveiled its downloadable content (DLC) plans for Mass Effect 2.

Those who purchase the title new will receive exclusive access to the 'The Cerberus Network,' an in-game pipeline for downloadable content, as well as daily messages and news on upcoming releases for the game at no additional cost. Access requires players to input a single-use unlock code that comes included with all new copies, retail and digital versions.

"The Cerberus Network augments and extends the rich universe of Mass Effect 2," said Dr. Ray Muzyka, co-founder, BioWare and Group General Manager of the RPG/MMO Group of EA. "We're thrilled to be able to reward loyal BioWare and Mass Effect fans with ongoing, high quality content and provide a direct channel for our players to dive deeper into the intriguing lore of Mass Effect."

The first DLC pack is set for release at the game's launch on January 26, and will include new missions, in-game items, and characters. Zaeed, a "rugged and deadly gun-for-hire" will join Commander Shepard in one of the new missions.

A second DLC pack, set for release "after launch" will included the Hammerhead, a new hover tank for players to take control of, along with "new missions and unique in-game items, including Cerberus Assault Armor which boost shields, health and heavy weapon ammo and the M-22 Eviscerator Shotgun."

If you're thinking about buying Mass Effect 2 used, BioWare says fans will have to pay for an activation code to join "The Cerberus Network," though pricing for a code was not revealed in the announcement.

Update: Electronic Arts has clarified to IGN saying all DLC on launch day will be free for those who buy Mass Effect 2 new. Pricing for content released afterward have not been announced.

I have a question about the "release day" free DLC from Kain's post: does this mean you HAVE to download it on release day? I ordered mine online and I'm 99% sure I'm not going to get it in the mail on the actual release date. does that mean I'll miss out on the free content?

I'm pretty sure that as long as you bought a new version you're probably pretty safe.

1 week to go! I considered playing through ME1 again, but I'm much too lazy. I was level 57 when I finished it back in 2007 and completed almost every side quest. Man, now that I think about it, most of those side quests were boring.

I really don't want to spend time exploring empty planets this time, Bioware.

No. Apparently all copies are shipping with unique one-time download codes to get the Day 1 DLC for free (if there is even a expiration, it won't be for a long time). So as long as you get a new, factory-sealed copy you should be all set regardless of when it arrives.
