Digital River gets a set amount of $ for every package they package, of course they are not going to want to combine orders, or fix the software so it can do so....

At least they are sympathetic.

Here's the deal on combined shipping... Orders will NOT be combined, no matter when they were placed, just like always. And just like always, items that are purchased together on a single order are shipped together, as long as they’re going to the same shipping address via the same method (regular, rush, etc.). If you place separate orders, they’ll ship separately.

:lol
Thanks Matty!

I have the opportunity to sort of cancel my sub too. I need a replacement debit card, so I could just update my info. I'd lose out on my deposit for the Shadow Weaver, though. Might be worth it.

You know, ordinarily I'm happy for fellow fans grabbing a bargain, regardless of what I paid for something myself, but seeing Matty sell so many of these for half price just kind of annoys me to be honest, given how over-priced the line is to begin with, and what a pain in the ass it has been to collect thanks to all the various issues with Digital River and Matty. It hust feels like one more thing making me wonder why I even bother... :lol

I've been collecting since the start, which makes it tough to just up and quit, but I'm right on that edge, especially with more and more niche characters that I just don't care about. Hell, if two of my fave characters weren't hitting early next year (Kobra Khan and Fisto) I'd have quit already...

:exactly: I am feeling much lack luster myself

Sorceress,Fisto,Kobra Kahn, and Stinkor is what sold me to stay on board, but I think this will change for me come 2013 lineup (Even though Ram Man is highly likely to be leading the 2013 Sub.Toyguru left his subtle hint just recently)..

The Lesbian Nazi Hookers Star Sisters really suck.I just don't like that I am forced to buy them being in the Sub.(Maybe I'll set them on fire,in package, and post it on youtube lol)

Swiftwind showed me how girly POP really is and I think I need to really pick and choose of that faction....

expecially since Matty plans on blowing out figures for $10 each on Cyber Monday's to get rid of extra stock and then kill the after-market value of these figures.Seems nobody wants to pay full $20 price for these figures anymore.

cancelled my sub and i am DONE with matty! they even kill the aftermarket value of their stuff!

few comments on aftermarket.

1) this is a crap economy, don't expect to be able to sell luxury items, like toys for a premium price.

2) Toy prospectors who buy with the intent to resell, AND companies who promote that idea are the cancer that is killing this hobby.

happened to baseball cards, happened to comics, and it will happen to the collector toy market too.

buy it because you like it, not because you want to turn a quick buck.

I completely agree and I am well very aware of the state of the Economy..BUT how does it make your feel that you paid $20 for trap jaw and you could of gotten him for $10 today?? Also, what if you needed to sell figures (not necessarily for profit) and have to sell them for way under for what your paid for?? Selling these figures for cost is VERY hard, unless its a figure like Wundar (an actual low printed figure)...I didn't buy to resell, but sometimes collections change, you move on to something else, then Selling these figures for half price, collector's then will expect it on the after-market aswell....

and the Sports, Baseball Card Market failed because of "OVERPRODUCTION" of cards...too many companies making too many cards (when it was just topps, fleer, donruss, and bowman)...I was there during the BOOM of cards and watched it Fail, saw Starting lineup BOOM and then Fail! which starting lineup was a toy line that spawned value onto other toys.

I don't care about the secondary market value but hasn't Mattel used that as an incentive to subscribe? I think just recently they made a statement about keeping the restocks to a minimum so that subscribers could sell off the figures they don't want more easily.

Like I said, the scarcity doesn't bother me one way or another but the continued indifferent / abrasive attitude towards collectors annoys me.

Yep! Fake sell-outs,creating false scarcity,to produce angry customers, then to persuade them that buying the sub is the only way to guarantee getting your figures, then only for them to have a monday super blowout sales day for figures that were supposedly long Sold-out! the loyal customers seem to get screwed IMO paying more for the product

on trap-jaw: couldn't care less. I pad retail for him. i'm not going to bemoan that had i waited a year an a half I could have gotten it for cheaper. I could just as eaisly have not gotten him at all.

if i'm in dire straits and I NEEd to sell my MOTUC figures for money, I'll gladly take whatever I can get for them, and not be whiney if i end up selling them for cost, or less than cost.
If things are THAT dire, I'm pretty sure I've got other problems.

as far as collectables go, once I buy something, I consider the money spent on it as LOST, and never expect to get ANY sort of return from it. This is how I view any and all luxury items.

Don't get me wrong, i DO see your point, and as I already said, SHAME on mattel for pushing the resale aspect of the line, then making it hard for people to do that.

shame on them twice. once for setting it up for that, and again, for undercutting that market after saying the resale is part of the business plan.

but me personally? here is how little i care insofar as I, myself am effected.

Friday, I bought a palace guards 2 pack at 36$.
today, I bought another for 20$.
Was I mad?
mebbie a little, for all of about 10 seconds, and a singular utterance of the word damnit, then I took out my card, and ordered a second set.

We never know what the future holds, and trying to speculate on it is not likely to get us anywhere. makedo with what you do have, and move on.

I don't care about the aftermarket, I have a similar philosophy, anything I spend on items such as this I consider gone anyhow. Money spent is money spent.

I do however care about dealing with a company that makes it as intentionally difficult as possible on their customers just to simply collect the product in question, to the point where they fake sell outs, claim once something is gone that it'll be gone forever, skip corners on quality control, and ever bang the drum about lowering production numbers and that the only way to actually get the product that you want in a reliable fashion is to subscribe and have to also buy, at a premium, product that you probably have little to no interest in at the same time. And if that's not bad enough, they have now started putting key characters as the subscriber exclusive (something they once said would never happen), and are threatening price rises if you dare choose to not buy a sub, but instead wish to buy just the pieces you want on the dy of sale...as if having to deal with Digital River's site wasn't already punishment enough.

I've said it before, but Mattel should thank their lucky stars that a) MOTU collectors are as crazy loyal to the property as they are, and b) that the Four Horsemen deliver so many winning sculpts, because the sheer amount of contempt and disrespect that Mattel has regularly shown their customer base for this line just beggars belief, it truly does.

I'm not sick of MOTU, but I am sick to death of both Mattel and Digital River at this point. And pretty soon I think I'm going to get to a point where I just cut strings simply because I am sick of rewarding these clowns with my hard earnt money every month...

.

YES. I hate having to work to buy a product particularly when there's no damn good reason for it. This isn't like some small one person business making 10 hand crafted toys. This is a HUGE toy company that has massive resources and production capabilities. Mattel makes someone like Sideshow or Hot Toys look like a guy casting resin in his garage.

I say it all the time. Mattel are at best antagonistic towards their customers. It's insane the bull____ they get away with. I can't believe any company run this way would be able to sustain but I guess that's the power of a really loyal fanbase of a particular property. I have no idea if this is actually true, but it feels true. If they where actually nice and accommodating to their customers the line would have far more longevity than it will.

Their PR is extremely poor. I do believe Toyguru really loves MOTU and has a real passion for it but his communications skills aren't the best. I've seen so much hate towards this guy from people, usually caused by putting his foot in his mouth in so many ways.
As much as people love to complain about Star Wars, A lot of people loved Steve Sansweet. He was genuinely excited about Star Wars and could talk to the fans at an equal level. I often thought Matty should hire PixelDan to talk to the public. I think he'd be honest and fair and most like and trust him.

I've been trying to see if I can get my fix without actually buying directly from MattyCollector. I now have a complete collection with the exception of the SDCC version of King Grayskull and the DC vs. MOTU sets which I haven't been very interested in. I'm just not much of a DC guy I guess.
I would say only a third of my collection was bought directly from MattyCollector. I don't mind getting loose figures as long as they are complete and I have been able to find some good deals on eBay and through making connections I've made on message boards.
With some exceptions the secondary market is a really ineffective way to make cash on these things. Even if someone sells a figure on eBay for $35, by the time you add the shipping and possible tax it cost them to get the figure, the seller is only making maybe $5.
The main time I do order off of their site is when an item isn't included in subscriptions. I figure those items are less likely to end up with people who don't want the figure and are less likely to be sold for cost or less. If Matty has been interested in keeping secondary market prices high to create a demand, the subscriptions work against that. People end up getting figures they don't want to guarantee getting the ones they do. Then many are happy to just recoup what they spent on it. Some characters are flooding the market because they are ones a subscriber may not want. Selling and buying from other fans has been a much more sane way for myself to go about adding to my collection.
