Wait, Fangman is only part of the regular sub right? I think so far we have Batros, Icer, and Shokoti on the Filmation sub.

For those who didn't get the regular sub, I wish Matty would let us order a Fangman if we got the Filmation sub, I think that would make sense since he's a Filmation character, and it would still be exclusive to club members that way.

-

that was already shot down....early access for filmation holders starts in july

Early access does not include any 2013 club Eternia items though, even if there is stock available on the sale date.

Hey guys, I know this is more of a vintage question, but does anyone have any advice on collecting the original mini-comics? Mainly in terms of good prices, etc.

Ya know,Toyguru has always said that all they really need is Subscribers, once they make quota/minimum,anything day of sales is just gravy....so I don't think Mattel really cares if they have day of sale product or not for the cherry pickers

they don't want extra inventory sitting around and they produce to what is guaranteed sold....sounds like a good plan as a business to make sure everything is sold

Yeah, I think they got burned going full steam ahead with the reissues in 2010 and 2011 when the majority of demand had been met on the first release for the secondary characters. There's more risk than reward for making extra figures outside of the subscription at this point in the line. Certainly there are exceptions such as Ram Man and Mantenna, but the character selection has changed drastically since 2008/09.

I've been trying to collect these for the past few years, the best thing you can do is get them at Conventions... you can find bundles of them for a decent price. But some of them are hard to come by and will be expensive, particularly the ones that came with figures when the line was dying, since those were available in smaller numbers. There was a guy during PowerCon, that had a bunch of these and sells them on his website, let me see if I can find that info for you.

Also, a guy at He-Man.org used to sell binder sleeves specially made for the minicomics. Those are really great to keep them protected and organized.

Anybody tried the early access today?
I wanted to get an extra Khan and it sold out in seconds... :monkey2

Wha? No, I think they've got things figured out better than that.

They're not going to "settle" for subscribers only when they know other people are itching to buy. Obviously they'll gauge "fan demand" and what not appropriately. But that "gravy" you're talking about is profit to them - of course they're going to want it.

Yeah, certainly that's a consideration... But bottom line is, like any business, they're aiming to maintain a balance between supply and demand. Part of their strategy is the whole "scare tactic" thing, and, while annoying, it does have some merit from their perspective. Obviously they want as many subscribers as possible, but they know some (thousands?) are still cherry picking - it would be foolish to ignore that, even if their PR (re: marketing) machine is saying things to the contrary.

Thanks! Good advice... It might be a nice thing to collect, here and there.

You should be able to find stuff like this at a good sports memorabilia store. There are many, many different kinds of binder sleeves out there. I bought a bunch for GI Joe file cards, blueprints and the little catalogs that came with vintage vehicles. :)

Strobo isn't until next month! So you're still in luck...

Really? For some reason I thought they were custom-made as they are perfectly sized for the minicomics...

oh? yay then

:lol:lol:lol

Well they might have been, for all I know.

But yeah, check out a sports store - there's all sorts available. I keep meaning to organize my vintage file cards and what not, but I keep putting it off - it'd be great to have a binder of the MOTU mini-comics, too!

Ya know, the guys over at He-Man.org have a legitimate BEEF here

Toyguru
This is the one we have all waited for. It is in scale with our 6” figures and chock full of every detail, crammed with accessories, and ideally will be sculpted to perfection soon (once we hit that minimum number of pre-orders on Nov 12th!). And for those a little unsure, it does include ALL of the items shown in the blueprints. We hope to add more, but there won’t be less.

Kelly Edmonds' video of the Castle Grayskull presale announcement detail/blue prints. Castle Grayskull info starts @ 20:47.

- TG said the $250 price tag was to "have enough wiggle room to put enough into it." Hoping to put more into it, but you're NOT going to see less. Toyguru repeats, multiple times and EMPHASIZES that we will NOT get less than what's shown in the blueprints. He was very insistent on this.

- "Will there be decals?" Toyguru answer: "I think we're going to actually sculpt everything, like the Wind Raider." (lots of cheering and clapping occurs). Translation - demon grate in blue prints was NEVER a sticker. Interesting point of note, Ruben and his team drew up the blueprints based on notes from 4H, so the playset could be costed out. So...they knew about the grate, because that work was all done in-house by Mattel.
- Playmat (the moat thing) is NOT included, but they're looking into ways of including it, like a cut-out in the packaging.
- "...at MINIMUM, this is what you're going to get. So, you can see the dimensions are called out..."
- "The original Castle goes up to about the eye ***** of this one. So, that's how big this thing is. I mean, you're going to need a new room." (laughter ensues).

I am really starting to see why there are complaints....A smaller Door entrance, using less plastic on the interior walls making the walls thinner? starting to think we are getting some flimsy Grayskull plastic

I also say I still think the whole thing, not just the door, is a lot smaller than the blueprints. I mean I wasn't there in person but still based on figure scale comparisons it looks about 20" tall not 25" tall which is a pretty huge difference.

it is smaller than the blueprints for sure..

I showed this to my brother, who does not collect MOTU,Nor cares at all about He-Man (he's older) and the first thing he said to me was "It's too small" and that was based on the video and pictures I sent him.The figures looked crammed inside and Mer-Man looked too big hanging on the ledge.

The other thing I want to add is the Wind Raider floor section is absolutely useless and stupid. How is it even suppose to even fit? and who would even park their Wind Raider there??

I was at NYCC 2012 and got to hear all this bull**** firsthand that's why I never got truly excited for Grayskull. I knew Mattel would **** it up somehow. Not only **** it up, but outright lie to their customers.

there is definite evidence that they have...Scott has said alot and has gone back on his word of things he said (he is a manipulative double speaker salesman and he doesn't even know it or does he?)

This is not the Greyskull they put up for pre-sale. They really seem to be taking HUGE steps back from what they promised. I'm not cancelling my pre-order yet, but I am disappointed.
