So the Disguise Power Swords ended up looking cheap after all. Saw that coming.

At least the potential is there to modify them, trim the edges, paint it chrome, etc.

Well they are designed to be hitting folks with so for what they are, I really like them. The shape is great and yeah, you could totally make a decent mould from it.

I think the Disguise swords are more for being a prop replica (although not done very well) rather than a play fight type thing. They look like they're hollow plastic to me.

I think the cheapo swords sold at the Halloween stores are foam and more for play fighting.

I really hate that PCS Skeletor bust... not sure why, might be the wrinkles...

It's not my Skeletor per say but in person, this thing is really impressive. It's very like the 200x Skeletor.

Are they Nerf or hollow plastic?

They are foam with a sturdy support. Just remember these are 20 buck play swords. They are very accurate to the classics toy and the details are clean...which is very unlike the Filmation swords which to me looks really crap. These will look great in your display I think.

Oh and I just opened the Talon Fighter. It's super impressive...until you look at the feet. It's called a TALON fighter not the Chicken Foot Fighter. The clue is in the name. The original toy had clawed gripping talons. The feet here are just really at odds with the function and the rest of the design.

Of you look past the feet though, it's really impressive. I would argue that its' actually too big. An odd gripe to be sure. :)

Well it's a 20 dollar costume piece. But for what they are, they are fairly nice. I like mine. And given its been 25 years since we got a power sword and I can't recall one made for adults...I'm happy with it

$29.99 plus shipping for me. All I'm saying is they could have at least cast it in a metallic silver plastic instead of foam and trimmed the mold edges a little better. The price doesn't match the product IMO.

The ship is definitely the best part of the set, but the feet are wrong and the red paint on top is terrible. I absolutely can't wait to see how much this thing will cost. LOL!

DC Collectibles Batman Animated Batmobile is HUGE, has working lights, no flaws, and rubber tires for $99.

The Talon Fighter set will probably be a lot more than that and it's riddled with flaws and comes with botched accessories. Mattel is THE worst. Ha ha.

I get it. I'd have preferred better as well. But it costs 15 bucks for the inflatable swords. The no name no brand in house stuff they make is around (swords, axes) 20 bucks. A cheap sword at my local dollar store is 5 bucks and the size of a kitchen knife. For a licensed product from a brand 95% of customers don't know of I think it's a good offering. It's strictly designed as a Halloween costume accessory. It isn't like the 80s and 90s or 2000s stuff Mattel did(not that the NA or 200x stuff was super sturdy) where it's supposed to be a regular market type toy.

I'm just happy they actually thought the brand was good enough to make anything. Let alone six costumes and four swords. That's a good sign to me.

The feet don't bother me, but the red paint is terrible. Also, why are there stickers in the cockpit? I thought we weren't supposed to get stickers any more in Classics? What's the point of doing it if you're not going to do it right?

Not really fair to compare to DCC. Batman is way more popular than MOTU, they distribute through Diamond, and DCC exists to promote DC properties, so profit margins aren't as important to them. I say look at the Predator blade fighter: similar size and price.

A lot of love and detail went into the Batmobile. Working lights, seat belts, rubber tires, etc. I just don't see the same amount of love in the Point Dread set. It may be comparing apples and oranges, but at least the folks behind the DCC products seemingly want to provide a great item at a fair price for their customers. The DCC BMTAS collection is also a collector line aimed at adults and they do a much better job than Mattel.

Ya, overall I agree, the Batmobile is a much more impressive piece, for a better price. But, like you said, apples and oranges. And I love the new animated line, but there's definitely been quite a few questionable decisions.
