Just got Saurod. He's a big boy. Taller than your standard buck by about 1/4 in. Also, his head is ****ing gigantic! I loved this guy as a kid, but I'm less than thrilled with this figure. He's too big.

Agreed on that, especially standing him next to Blade....Saurod is supposed to be more Slender. He almost looks like a PREDATOR than actually Saurod from the movie

Life sized Skele in the huzzah!! Packaging design par moi! :)

Depending on the Fwoosh, I will be posting pics of this in full display at the UK MOTU Convention next weekend.

That's EXACTLY what I thought. He's the Predator of motu. He should have been closer to Lizard Man's size.

I'm surprise they didn't use the Lizard man buck on Saurod. He's still plenty cool even if they missed the scope on the gun and his chain mail is not the right color. Research boys, research!

I think the coloring is modeled after the vintage toy:

Modeling things from the vintage toy is Mattel's excuse for cutting corners. And the rest of Saurod is based off the movie version, so... yeah. A appreciate the metallic blue dry brushing, but gold was the way to go with this one, imo.

If they wanted to make him more like the vintage, they should have had him spark.

There's a scope-type thing on top. A laser sight maybe? The gun comes pretty warped in the package. A little soak in hot water straightened it out.

Eh, pretty typical of the line to mix and match sources (just look at the POP figures with their toy details and Filmation paint jobs). He doesn't really match the movie in build or size so I don't look at it as a direct translation of that. Besides, they don't technically own the rights to the movie designs, so they're probably skating a fine line even having him look as close as he does to the movie. They definitely should have had him spark, and the paint job definitely could have been better (the armor really needs some shading), but that's a different issue :).

Imo, the only thing this figure has in common with the vintage version is that they're both based on the movie character. Blue chainmail aside, this Saurod is movie version all the way (put through the Classics filter of course).

So odd that even though Mattel financed the entire movie, they don't own the rights. The movie industry is awesome.

The Fourhorse Men need to reference their stuff more tightly. They reference vintage figures without being aware that color fades. This is why Hydron is two colors shades in the classics instead of one like the vintage. The arms on the vintage toy fades over time.

Both the movie version and the vintage toy version or Saurod's gun have the full scope so what happened there I have no idea. I always like that gun.

The green maille is kinda weird since it makes it look like the maille is meant to be his skin.

I think Saurad came out pretty damn nice. I don't expect the 4H or anyone else to get it 100% right, and at this point with the way things are going, we are very lucky to get a figure this nice. Here's hoping for the rest of the year to be free of MAJOR QC problems. I say major because there are ALWAYS QC problems with this line.

This is getting ridiculous

"We sincerely apologize for any confusion that was caused from the lack of clarity on our part.

When the King Hess Torso was originally offered it was offered as "part of your subscription". It was never intended, nor specifically announced, as a free figure. The ONLY figure that is ever included in a Matty Collector figure is the "sub only" figure described on the club product page here:

MattyCollector.com Clubs Online Store - 2014 Masters of the Universe® Classics Club Eternia® Subscription Monthly Shipment Option

Currently, the plan is for a Full Snake Form King Hssss figure which includes the new Bendy Snake Upper Torso with a repaint of the Snakemen lower body, and the King Hssss Briefs. You'll also get a Bonus Transforming King Hssss Head (Snakemen Repaint) that can work with either of your King Hssss figures and some new repaints of the Snake Men Weapons. Overall we feel this is a more complete offering than just a torso in a polybag, and allows for customizable options with the original figure.

The final deliverable, timing and price are still in the works, but we hope you understand that we are trying to offer you the best product possible.

Once the final execution has been determined, we'll post updates and email subscribers to inform them of the actual status of the King Hsss figure."

Nice to see they are skewing everything with this response. Also love how they linked the wrong subscription.

I don't know if they publicly posted that reply on the mattycollector page, but I got the same response via the BBB since I was one of many who filed a complaint with them.

I like how they are trying to twist it around as us wanting a free figure. LOL! Subscribers have already paid for the torso, JUST the torso, by virtue of a subscription contract to pay a grand total throughout the year because we were told that it was COSTED IN. This is nothing more than a bait and switch because Mattel can't stand the idea that they would have to give all the subscribers a newly tooled snake torso at no additional cost. Greed in it's purist form.

I finally watched the MOTU movie for the first time. It's a little rocky but goddamn it has some production value. Some really gorgeous costumes, makeup, and conceptual design.

Indeed. It would make for some stunning Hot Toys type figures.
