Got a new theory. There's been concern that Teela will take over as He-Man, BUT...

...while that could explain Scareglow's spiel about her being afraid to be extraordinary, it doesn't address the secret Duncan's been keeping from her: she's the Sorceress' daughter. What if instead she becomes the next Sorceress? And Adam, in order to stay alive, permanently takes on the form of He-Man and becomes the next king?

I'd be quite all right with that.

Kevin smith is under heavy fire over this show
I think he should not have said anything. The naysayers may have treated his silence as confirming the rumors, but they wouldn't have had anything concrete to nail him on. The man needs more Twitter restraint.

The show itself would've gone over fine if 1. Kevin said nothing and 2. all ten episodes were released at the same time. Pretty sure I know where they're going and it's not what the rumor mill feared, but it doesn't matter because we won't have proof for another several months. Until then, the outrage will continue.

If I'm wrong, then yeah, it's TLJ all over again. But all the signs point to something cool.

I‘ve should’ve known if Sarah Michelle Gellar was going to voice a character ..of course it would end up being the main one focused on

I think the character designs are hideous. Teela has more lines and wrinkles in her face than my dead grandmother.

I started it last night, only got 10 mins in then decided to go to bed. Will try and give the series a watch this week.

I was a big fan of the toys as a kid, can't say I remember much about the actual story.

FILMATION which was the company behind the originals never focused on the storylines ..sure there was a plot in each episode but the theme was strictly focused on the good guys beating the bad guys and just showcased whatever character whether good or bad or a guest character or characters in an episode. Basically there were just simple plots that wrapped up in each episode unless it was a two or three parter with always happy and resolved endings. Nothing was ever left to leave a plot hanging.

Most of the episodes taught the old saying “ The lesson to be learned from this episode is.. “

in other words..both original He Man and She Ra series were strictly made for the kids and if the kids liked the shows , they were encouraged to buy the toys .. to help boost Mattel product sales and if the kid already owned the figure..then the cartoon just emphasized “ See.. this why buying this character figure is a great purchase because this is how he or she is relevant in the lands of Eternia and Etheorya ( however you spelled it )

There was no real goal but to entertain the children at the time like the Smurfs and Scooby Doo for example. FILMATION also did shows like Fat Albert .

Too sum it up..you didn’t miss much if you didn’t remember the backstory or episode storylines because the show never was made for that.

Thanks for the lowdown. Felt like I was missing something bigger going into Revelation.

All I remember is having the toys and loving my He-Man and Battle Cat toy. Wish I knew what happened to my old stuff. 😵

I recently bought a vintage He-Man, Battlecat and Skeletor off ebay. My folks sold all my old stuff when I was 11-12 and was more interested in my Sega Master System. These ones are probably in waaaay better condition than what I left my original ones in.

Finished the 5 episodes and really enjoyed it, aside from Teela being the least interesting character now. Andra's voice actress would have been great for Teela. Aside from that, its pretty good.

For those saying this is 'not about he-man' well, the show is about He-man - he's just not the only part. As a storyline, its pretty good. Not sure I would have done this as the opening story to the new series, but not my call.

Some of the voice acting was amazing: Evil Lynn, Duncan, Beast Man, Tri-lops, Adam/he-man/. Some missed the mark: Skeletor aka the joker, teela, merman. overall, I'd score this show as a B+

Just finished this show…complete garbage. Gellars voice is terrible. Tesla’s relationship with Andra is heavily implied. Teela getting that mad over he mans secret was a stretch and made her character petty and unlikeable. The obligatory killings of Moss-Man and Orko etc. I went in to this wanting to like this show but I guess it’s just cool now to subvert one’s expectations. I bet if you liked Last Jedi, you would like this. The end part of the story was just terrible. I also hated how Castle Grayskull is just an illusion.

the end is complete garbage? REALLY? I question whether you actually finished the 5 episodes. the actual end was a cool cliffhanger!

I can tell already people here are gonna frustrate the **** out of me. Exiting this thread.

People already decided this was garbage before it came out, even if it's good they wont change their minds.

Yeah. Skelegod was a great way to end this and having Prince Adam stabbed in the back was absolutely brilliant. Got it. I think people will either love this or hate it. If you liked it great but this is Last Jedi level bad for me. It’s a very female focused show and the character kills were done in such a way that I was like meh.

They killed Orko? How ballsy! Bet he gets resurrected though.
Sure he will and so will Adam. He will most likely be resurrected in some way unable to transform back into Adam. There is a lot for the LBGTQ+ community to like here with the not so subtle metaphors and hinted at relationship. Its so 2021

Tesla’s relationship with Andra is heavily implied.
Looking at the flashbacks of Teela working together with He-Man, it seems like she's trying to recreate that dynamic with Andra. The swinging kicks, the "I go if you go" stuff, she did all that with Adam before. Plus Evil Lynn keeps suggesting that Teela has a crush on He-Man/Adam, which she never denies (nor does Andra react).

If you ignore the script and go purely by them hugging or looking at each other, yeah, you could say it's queerbaiting (and I'm sure the producers are ok with a bit of that to try and snag more of that demographic), but baiting is all it is. There's no commitment to it. The script itself suggests something different.

I think killing Adam twice is overkill, no pun intended. Even if he comes back, which he likely will, it's a cheap writing device. The era of shocking hero deaths in comics is long gone and it's clear Kevin Smith came from that.

Since this is MOTU, there's also a component of playing with your toys as a kid, mixing and matching, and coming up with a "what if" scenario where the bad guy gets the power sword. So here you have Skelegod and unusual pairings like Evil Lynn and Orko. I get why they thought they could do it, but releasing all ten episodes at once would've been made it more palatable. On its own, with the loose ends, I can see how it would be harsh.
