OK so who's been keeping an eye on this animal skin cheetah. it was only a few weeks ago that I figured out that there are 3 cheetahs in total. Now all of a sudden the animal skin is crazy rare:

https://cgi.ebay.com/DC-Universe-cl...tem&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item41502151f8

there are only 3 listings on the bay. any one know how to track them down cheep. Also is it true that the animal skin will be released in Mattycollectors July sale?

CSC had them for $30 but they sold out. And I haven't hear anything about them being on Matty. I would guess NOT. I've heard Amazon has them, but its a gamble of which of the three Cheetahs they will send you, and ordering mulitples doesn't give you any better odds either.

I suspect (merely speculation here) that naked cheetah may end up being sold at SDCC. It is in production and finished and I think it is possible she will be offered much like Beastman, He-Man and Skeletor was last year...no pre-announcment or anything.

Like I said, just speculation. But as I understand it, CSC tried at least one time to get the track suit cheetah and Mattel just sent em more naked ones. Maybe that's the same thing that happened to Amazon since they are both having backorders filled with the naked cheetah.

Can't imagine what else they would do with em since they haven't announced em going on MC.com...but they may show up there too or maybe just there.

OK lets talk Cheetahs for a moment here shall we. 1st check out the Matty listing for wave 13:

https://www.mattycollector.com/store/matty/en_US/DisplayProductDetailsPage/productID.175323000

See how it spells out the wave WILL COME WITH BOTH variants. & notice how black outfit Cheetah is not shown in the listing's pic. If I had to guess I'd say animal skin Cheetah was ment to only be sold on Matty, as a means of enticing fans to buy the wave as a whole from them instead of piece meal off ebay & other online sellers.

BUT.....something went horribly wrong! undisclosed amounts of animal skins got shipped out instead of black & cheetah print outfits. So now Mattel is sitting at its desk looking like a bunch of smacked ass, cause now the Ace they were gonna play to sell their wave 13 has been compromised.

But to what extent??? that the 64K question! my my my, this is gonna be quite interesting to see which cheetah turns out to be the short pack. I wouldn't be shocked if it turns out to be black outfit instead of animal skin. Reason is LOD is CLEARLY readily available on both Matty, store, & online.

& correct me if I'm wrong, but hasn't all of DCUC since its been offered on Matty only sold for near retail on the 2nd market? Well either way I'd say we'll all know by the end of Aug. which cheetah is the next Gentilman Ghost.

Cheetah will never be the next Gentleman Ghost. Gentleman Ghost was just made in fewer numbers than the other figures of that wave so his critical C&C pieces were so much rarer and therefore his prices skyrocketed. Cheetah as three versions of her and at between all of those she is being made in much higher numbers than GG. So even if one of the Modern Cheetahs ends up really rare, she won't be worth as much as GG because her C&C piece is available with the regular Cheetah.

you really believe what drives up the prices of these thing is their C&C?? I think you under estimate the nature of collectors. But like I said....time will tell. & when I'm proven right in the next couple of months, you'll then dazzel us all with how well you can back pedal :wink1:

With GG, it is the C&C that helps give him his value. Giganta, a highly demanded C&C by the way, is useless without her crotch and head (how Mattel thinks those two parts belong together is beyond me). I got a loose GG on ebay a few months back for $10 shipped. Sure he didn't have any accessories, but still, $10. I'm just glad this was a wave I pre-ordered as a set so my Giganta is complete.

If the naked Cheetah ends up being the rarest, sure, she'll fetch a nice price. But nothing like wave 5 or GG have.

Ummm, ok. I hear what your saying. & yes I've seen a few cheap listings for loose GG to. But if its Giganta C&C pieces that a person is seeking then there are ample loose pieces readily available on ebay & they are just as cheap as the loose GG.

Thus the logical conclusion would be that MOC GGs are whats valuable. The C&C are only an added bonus. In other words GG will continue to be highly valuable until Mattel desides to re-release them as an all star....MINUS THE C&C! So if re-released GG that DON'T HAVE THE C&C cause the value to plunge then it becomes clearly obvious the the C&C was not what was causing a $150.00 price tag.

There is definitely not an ample and or cheap supply of the pieces that came with GG. I only see one head in the completed auction listings, and it went for $69.

I was going to say the same thing...can't say I've seen cheap GG CnC pieces on ebay or on other boards. Regardless, both the GG AND the GG CnC pieces are equally rare and the prices for all will drop if Mattel re-releases it intact.

And SQ, you may be right about the naked cheetah. My brother and I thought about that scenario as well. Not surprising that Mattel would thwart their own sales with a bonehead move like that. Just par for the course for them.

I can hear it now, "...we no longer offer full sets of DCUC on mc.com due to collectors lack of interest in the sets even if we give them an incentive." Of course never mentioning that it took them literally over a month to deliver the same sets that have been available from online retailers and that they simply missed the boat. :cuckoo:

well ok guys. If you say I'm wrong about the GG C&C then so be it. I have a complete wave 8 so I don't really keep that close a tab on it. To be honest I always thought it was that cute lil Atom that collectors wanted so bad. The C&C never really crossed my mind.

That Atom is cool but it has been released by Mattel prior in the JLU line. It was originally included in the Ray Palmer Atom JLU single carded figure...but it was a cool add in none the less. I just don't think it is doing much to drive up the price.

I think GG is a big factor but the set as a whole is the real gem. Without it, you actually end up missing TWO :horror long sought after figures. Not to mention, without Giganta, you'll forever have an imcomplete Legion of Doom set up which I think is only missing Toyman, an updated Scarecrow and spandex Riddler. Chances are, they will never release Giganta as an individual figure so the orininal GG release is really your only means to obtain her.

Sad part is, if this was MOTU, they would have announced last year that they would definitely be working on finding a way to get "figure X" back out to the collecting public. Since its a mass market line, they seem to not give a dayum...as much.

Mattel did Giganta before. As a con exclusive:

https://www.mattycollector.com/store/matty/en_US/DisplayProductDetailsPage/productID.105864300

I'm pretty sure she turned out to be a flop tho. I think the only collectors that wanted her are JLU collectors. That trade mark "no detail" sculpt that the JLU line uses is a major turn off for a lot of people (me included).

So I think when a REAL Giganta got announced fans were happy as hell. But more to the point, when I heard GG was gonna be in that wave I made it my business to land him! Correct me if I'm wrong, but this was the 1st time ever for him to be in a 6" fig.

I always knew he would be worth a bundle......not that I collect for those reason, but its cool to have valuable stuff.

hey guys here is some fresh news about the up coming wave 14. This is the latest statment lifted from Matty's FB page:

"DCU Fans, I know some of you have been looking for Wave 14 in stores already, but I wanted to let you know we just got our pilot production sample, which means the wave will arrive at WalMart stores around 60-90 days from now. They do look awesome, though -- the wait will be worth it!"

I don't know about you but I could damn sure use a 2 month break after all this spending.

That suits me just fine too. I wonder if this will push back wave 15 also? Or will it arrive just as 14 does? Seems like the past couple of waves came out fairly soon after the other.

yeah the waves are coming rather fast these days. One can't help but wonder if Mattel is about to pull the plug on it.

Yes, they released her in the JLU with the JLU show accurate costume. The 6" version will not be re-released...and it has the Legion of Doom costume. Like you mentioned, the animation styling would not work if added into the DCUC so that would not work. And you are correct, this was the first GG in 6" scale.

:huh... Mattel is making a bundle on these and you can rest assured that this line will at least continue through the end of their contract...which if I remember correctly last another 2 years :yess:

And if WB/DC markets their property right, Mattel may stay aboard beyond that considering the movie properties they are trying to push.

Don't worry, this line is alive and kicking strong. Just look at all the store exclusives that keep getting announced. So far Walmart, TRU and Kmart (having a limited exclusivity period on wave 15) all have exclusives for this line. Just waiting for what Target might be getting.

Yeah, I think we've got a loooong while before they start tapering off the line. I love these figures, I never thought I would have half the characters we have done half as well (unless you count DCD; I don't.) on my shelf. And if the Green Lantern franchise takes off-- which it should, with a good director and a solid cast and a character that'll let kids' imaginations run wild (anyone else miss that with all our 'great' technological advances?:D)--then I say they have even more gas left in the tank.

Speaking of GL, I found MetalliHal today, and he really pops. I'm not sure I know where to put him, as he does stand out with the other forest green-colored GLs we've already gotten.

Now comes the anticipation for wave 14...

Got tired of waiting on the metallic Hal since tru doesn't want to stock Michigan for some reason. Grabbed one off ebay for retail plus shipping. Love the metallic coloring on him.

You should have been a bit more patient...I found a whole case Tuesday.

I think Michigan's delivery schedule was off by about a week due to the holiday.

We got em here in Detroit this week and a buddy of mine got em in Kalamazoo last week.
