So a few interesting things have been revealed by the latest round of Matty Q&A's that I think are worth discussing

from Actionfigures.com

3) Have you already revealed the theme or themes for the DC lines in the upcoming year? If not, what can you tell us about it?

While Wave 17 has a clear “theme” in Blackest Night and Wave 18 and 19 will have a looser theme (i.e. not EVERY character in the wave will be under a theme) this is something that will go away in Wave 20 and beyond as we go back to more universe building waves in 2012.

From the Fwoosh:

2. As a little preview to Toy Fair, can you give us an approximation of how many new figures you will be debuting for the following lines?

-DCUC
-MOTUC
-Ghostbusters

At least one wave of DCUC, at least four new MOTUC figures and at least two new GB figures are planned.

3. What was the strategy behind making DCUC series 17 a series of “deputy” lanterns, instead of Corps leaders (like Saint Walker, Larfleeze and Atrocitus)? Fan demand is still extremely high for those characters.

This wave was planned at about the time of Blackest Night 5 and 6 and at that time these character were extremely hot on the fan boards. Also, this was a great way to get some modern versions of main characters out there again.

From itsalltrue.net

DCClassics.Com: In a recent Ask Mattel @ ActionFigureInsider, Mattel indicated that a Joker & Harley 2pk would is planned for late 2011. Is the whiter face the only planned deco change for the Harley figure? Since the Tuxedo Joker is Ross inspired, Harley would look sharp in metallic paints.

We have not announced who the figure is that will be paired with Joker. You’ll just need to wait for NYTF in February!

Editor’s Note: You know it’s bad when you have to have two Editor’s Notes in one Q&A. If you follow that link over to AFI, you will see an answer where it’s clearly indicated that Harley will be the other half of the Tux Joker 2pk. I suppose that could be called an unofficial announcement much like what happened with the cancelled Hawks 2pk.

DCClassics.Com: We’ve got the corrected Sinestro in our hands and it’s much appreciated. Starfire is another figure in dire need of a redo. Any chance of getting a new version of her on one of the new female bucks?

Honestly, we have not really considered another Starfire, but if there is enough demand you know we are always listening!

Thoughts?

Nothing too exciting for me. So the themed waves will go out by 20, the best part of that news is that we will be seeing DCUC go for more than 20 waves.

I think we will see wave 18 and the complete Legion lineup at the Fair.

Little chance we will see more of the Corp's leaders for now.
ToyFair, can't wait til you get here.

Man im loving that young justice cartoon, how bout u guys? Thrilled to hear the four horse are doing those figures to tie in to the DCUC!!!!! Check it out here for those that havent found out https://www.toyark.com/
Also what do you guys think of the themed waves starting with wave 20 and on???

While Wave 17 has a clear “theme” in Blackest Night and Wave 18 and 19 will have a looser theme (i.e. not EVERY character in the wave will be under a theme) this is something that will go away in Wave 20 and beyond as we go back to more universe building waves in 2012.

The themed waves are ending with wave 20 and beyond. They will go back to waves more like wave 1...its a good idea.

Got Wave 16 earlier this week. Was perfectly happy until my Robin broke today. Be very careful with the ankles. Mine had the joint painted shut and there was an air bubble in the tiny peg they used so it snapped with barely any force (was just posing him when it happened :( )

I have him on a stand now so it a least looks like his foot is attached, heh.

Been a while since I posted anything here, so here are some recent pics.

Thanks guys.

The skeletons are Revoltech figures. Just search for "Sci Fi Revoltech Skeleton Warrior" on Hobby Link Japan or any other site you know that sell import figures.

For you guys buying wave 16:

Hot water is Robins friend. The swivel disk connected to the peg is so caked up with paint that the skinny and sometimes defective peg, as reported, can't possibly overcome the paint bond.

The hot water will loosen it up and you will be able to get tons of range from his ankles.

When mine arrive tomorrow I am going to be handling Robin like some sort of fragile ancient artifact. And I need to find that tutorial I saw somewhere about modding Creeper to get more range out of his knees and ankles.

So whilst scrutinizing the collection today I realized my Starfire's arms wooldn't rotate forward at the shoulders. Cracked her upper torso in half and discovered there were o-rings on her arm pegs that were MISASSEMBLED, preventing forward movement. Grrr... time for some superglue and proper assemblage. This garbage happens and we're going to be expected to pay MORE next year? My wave 16 better not have awful QC...

This is probably it:

Just a note, when I took the slices out of the feet I found that mine was yellow plastic painted red, so not all have the red plastic lower legs.

Great link, Merc. I like that they have the articulation on the wrist, too. I really love the variety of poses available for this figure. I'm going to have to be patient and wait until CSC gets their orders in.
