I don't think these will sit very long. Wave 12 was already widely available at retail and through online e-tailers when it listed on Mattycollector. Wave 5. . .is a different story. If you really want these, I would suggest trying to buy them ASAP when they go on sale. If you rely on someone else, you double your chances of missing out. . .

You guys really think there'll be a run on the bank with these? If so, how will the trade/all in work? Might want to hedge the bets and everyone try for a set? I dont know, it might get sticky.
On the other hand, it could be like Wave 12 and be sitting around days later, in which case, no problem at all.
Just my 2cents since Lee and I share a collection.

It's down now but, there was a dealer on ebay listing 10 sets available for preorder. Unfortunately it's not the collectors who are going to get a chance with these, it's the scalpers.

That guy is on the Matty Collector forum for listing those...he was getting dragged over the coals something fierce!

lerath666...if you are going to order MOTU stuff, maybe you should just order those and let one of us do the DCUC set. Cause trying to get both, which are gonna be extremely sought after, might result in losing one or both.

But I'm still in the camp that says the DCUC wave 5 wont sell out all that fast. If so, it'll mostly be scalpers. These are gonna be produced in the same numbers as their other sets, I'd pressume, and there are lots of guys who got em the first time around...the MOTU stuff is a whole nother issue.

Dee and I aren't looking to trade...we really don't have much to trade anyway. Better just figure who's gonna order these and send em out to the others.

Ah, nope. That is why they are being rereleased. And don't foget the QC issues this wave had. Many that found them found broken/damaged/crappy ones instead of good ones. This will be MotUC bad. Trust me. Its better to be paranoid about missing these than thinking it will be no problem.

But if anyone is interested in an original wave Amazo and/or Metallo right now, talk to me.

Uh...yeah. I don't think so. Like it or not, there are not as many DC fans going after these as the MOTU stuff. Too much market saturation. You've got DCD, JLU, DCIH, BMBB and DCUC all in the market selling the same friggin characters.

Now I'm not saying they will not be popular. But I am saying that Mattel has to produce these in a certain number of units per release. This is the ONLY way they can keep them at the $15 per fig price tag...especially with stuff that is exclusive to Matty Collector. All this has been stated by Scott N. (Toy Guru) many times. It is the reason why the 2 packs and the JLU 4 packs were discontinued on the site. They have a certain number of units that they HAVE to produce and they HAVE to sell to make it worth while for the site.

Wave 5 should be no different. Will these most likely sell out? Sure. Will they sell like MOTU? Well, so far, nothing for the DC license has sold like that on Matty Collector. So history would suggest that the sell out will be less like MOTU stuff and more like Wave 11...or slightly faster. And that took almost 2 whole days to sell out.

And Buttmunch, contrary to what you think, there were lots of guys who found this set. No, it didn't meet demand, but they were found. I had a chance at 2 sets that a buddy found myself. I also know that they showed up at least twice in my local WM.

Now I'm not saying, "Ahhh, you got at least a few days to make up your mind." I'm saying if you want it, buy it fast. Like any collectible, if you want it, you better buy it when its available or risk not getting it at all. But my opinion based on the high production numbers and the DCU license's previous sell out history is that this won't be like MOTU. I still think that's not a fair comparison. These will most likely sell out but not like MOTU.

The MotUC vs DCUC sales on Matty argument isn't a good one. MotUC is only available there. 1 place thats it. A great majority of those people (and likely a lot more) buy DCUC, but there are just multiple places to buy those at. The Matty 2 packs just sucked for the most part. Not characters people were really interested in. Color of Fear was the best and only because of the Army builder potential.

With the price wave 5 is going for on ebay, I expect a MotUC fast of a sell out on these. I may be wrong, but I'd rather be safe than sorry on these.

I hope ButtMunch isn't right, but I, too am going to error to the side of caution on this one. I have wanted a couple of figs in this wave for a loooong time. Good luck to the freaks that want 'em too!!

That's the point I'm making. Because MOTU is only available on Matty Collector and DCUC is available and has been made available in other outlets - that INCLUDES Wave 5!- means you can't compare ANY DCUC product's sell thru to the MOTU sell thru numbers. SOOOOOO, expecting a MOTU type sell out is not very likely...regardless of the character selection. It wasn't as if Wave 5 was loaded with all top notch characters :monkey5

Amazo- B or C-lister
Black Lightning- B-lister
Eradicator- A-lister
Riddler- B-list villian for an A-lister...imho
Atom- A/B-lister

The ebay prices are more due to their limited run rather than anything else.

Like I said, if you want it, you better buy it. But history suggest these will be available in the same numbers as they've released everthing else DC on Matty. And so far, their streak hasn't been stellar to say the lest.

I think the site will be clogged with traffic and bog down like any other sale date. But when the smoke clears, I think there will be plenty to go around.

I'm not saying it will last long...WAVE 11 DIDN'T LAST LONG!!!

Everyone said the same thing about wave 9 when the etailers got shafted but there was plenty to go around. I personally could have completed about 4-5 sets of those.

Everyone said the same thing about wave 10 but there were boatloads of that stuff floating around WMs...plenty to go around. Did they sell thru? Of course they did. But there was lots of product availble.

There has been nothing to suggest these new wave 5 sets will be any different. If Scott comes out and says the new wave 5 sets will be limiited in some way, then I'm a believer, but I just don't see any justification for it at this point.

yes. local walmart here at Orange, CA just put some on the pegs a few days ago. Now, they're all gone except for copperhead. It's like a wind that just blows through.
