Re: Mattel ghostbusters conversion step by step

Sure do! Im gonna try to get a good bit done on your figures over the holiday. Also the elbow pads for other members. Im in a glove finding dilemma right now haha. I don't like any of the ones that you can use for hot toys.

Is this the casting for the elbow pads Astro? Cuz I'm still in for a set of 4 (8 elbow pads)...Just want to make sure I'm on the list for these!!! :rock

Re: Mattel ghostbusters conversion step by step

Just to ensure, my interest for 6 pairs was honest too. If it is not too much could you provide us with a list of the members who have already ordered. So there will not be any confusion... :peace

Re: Mattel ghostbusters conversion step by step

Yup, the ones who mentioned early on in this thread or PMed me were the ones I called priority. Just to clear confusion Ill make a 2nd list with you guys on it tonight.

Re: Mattel ghostbusters conversion step by step

Haven't done much to Ray yet, but simply switching to a narrow shoulder true type worked wonders in my opinion. I painted the silver stripe on the radio, will be adding Astro's elbow pads, and will likely replace the boots with the ones in the above post (alas, Monkey Depot only has one set in stock right now and I'd like to buy all four sets at once.) The head will be Spencer's and I'm hoping to find new hoses for the proton gun and the leg tube (I think both are too stiff and highlight the 'toyness' of this figure.) The belt is serviceable - I'll try using a sharpie to blacken the grommets and see if that's enough to keep me from replacing it. Lastly, I'll probably pad his waistline a bit - Ackroyd wasn't FAT in GB per-se, but he wasn't rail thin, either.

Pardon the head. I just grabbed one off the closest figure.

Hope you don't mind my tossing my Ray conversion into your thread, Astro! I just figured if everyone who is converting their Mattel Ray started a new thread just for theirs, we'd soon be over-run!

Re: Mattel ghostbusters conversion step by step

Not at all man. Like I said way back, I really enjoy seeing what others do to the figures. Those boots from monkey depot are a damn good pair to grab. Its what I got for Ray and they look spot on. I personally didn't have a gripe with the leg hose and gun hose. while they are rather stiff, they are pretty spot on to the movies. Post some pictures of what you come up with, Id love to see!

Re: Mattel ghostbusters conversion step by step

Any thoughts on black gloves for the boys? I'm surprised that it's so hard to locate black gloves in 1:6 scale!

Of course, should I decide to have my GBs gloved for display, I could try hunting down some gloved hands instead of individual gloves...

Re: Mattel ghostbusters conversion step by step

For the hot toys bodies its rather hard to find exact gloves. I sculpted mine from a set of halo jumper gloves. If sculpting isn't your thing, I think these look great.

I think its what elvis used. Just paint them semi gloss black and they should be good to go.

Ill take a picture or 2 of my gloves in the morning for you to see.
