I have mixed views on Palin, at first i didn't think it was a good choice but she is a mother of five and that will appeal to the demographic of voters McCain is trying to get.

She also thinks Creationism should be taught in schools, so I'm not sure how much of the Hillary camp she can realistically attract.

Great avatar, by the way!

Not to make light of it but the Daily Show did a great bit - they were riffing on Palin being chosen so the Hillarites will cross over. Personally I can't believe that the Republicans believe that women would do that, so there must be another reason for it.

As Jon Stewart pointed out that Palin is ideologically the opposite to everything Hillary stands for - but Samantha Bee answered that with Palin is gynecologically identical to Hillary and women will vote for McCain just because there's a woman on the ticket.

As for abortion and the definition of army - let's keep it civil folks.

There is a lot of truth to that. It's no secret that a lot of people vote with their hearts or with trends and not with their heads. This year will be no different, and I think one that will shake up parties in general. You'll have some woman voters voting McCain only because of a woman is on the ticket. You'll have some Republican's voting democratic because they don't like a woman on the ticket. You'll have blacks voting Obama only because he's half black, and you'll have some democrats voting republican because they don't like that fact. Unfortunately it seems as though the popularity of candidates are being pushed as the most important issue these days.

I think it also has to do with combating the perception of Obama as the candidate of change, the history maker. They're afraid of that movement and think that's the reason for Obama's "rock star" "celebrity" status. They don't want to be labeled as more of the same.

I figure the McCain campaign had a conversation like the Pappy ODaniel campaign in O' brother Where Art Thou:

Well, it's a well-run campaign. Midget and broom and whatnot.

- Devil his due. - Hell of an organisation.

- Say, I got an idea. - What's that, Junior?

We can hire us a little fella even smaller than Stokes's.

You slump-shouldered sack of nuts!

We'd look like a bunch of johnny-come-latelys

bringin' out our own midget.

Don't matter how stumpy!

That's the ****** problem, people think Stokes has got fresh ideas.

He's au courant and we're the past!

It's a problem of...

- Perception. - Right.

- He's pulling our pants down. - Gonna paddle some behind.

Ain't gonna paddle it. Gonna kick it.

- No, he's gonna paddle it. - That's not a proper description.

- That's how I'd characterise it. - It's more of a kickin' situation.

No way this hockey mom, pro gun, pro life woman will woo very many undecided Hillary supporters from Obama to McCain.

When I imagine President Palin, I get scared. very, very scared.

This is probably the most important thing that has been said in this whole thread.

:clap

True story. I literally just walked in the door from Six Flags and while I was there I saw 8 Obama stylized pop culture t-shirts like something you'd see being sold in Hot Topic. He's quickly becoming the new Che Guavara of the tshirt world.

This is nothing new. JFK is a pop art mainstay and the GOP treats Ronald Reagan like a demigod.

This election is over, and Obama just won by a landslide. I just hope the country survives.

God I hope so. This country cannot stand 4 more years of what we've been going through. Enough is enough. McCain has said nothing that will make this country better but only keep us in the whole we're in. If this country can survive the genius we've had the last 8 years I think we'll be more than ok with Obama.

most people are retiring at McCain's age, how does considering him for the counties most important job equate? i won't be shocked if he wins however... we get what we deserve... we are the cancer that has abused this planet and its resources... why stop now?

Obama is a step off the dim path we are on... how can anyone not want to take that step?

I consider myself a moderate that leans conservative. I have no love for the extremes in either party. I'm not enthused about McCain, but what worries me is total domination of the White House, Senate and Congress by one party. We saw what happened during the Bush years and I don't think this country can afford one party getting a blank check to do whatever they please. Believe me, I come from Massachussetts. We had a long run of Republican governors after Mike Dukakis ( a Democrat in a Democratic state)for a reason. Not that we were thrilled with the Republicans(Mitt Romney anyone?), but both parties kinda kept each side in check. Now we have a Democrat, Deval Patrick who ran a campaign on promises of change. Sound familiar? Well, I'll tell you, nothing changed. He's a politician like the lot of them.

There called republicans and they dont know any better.

WAR,WAR,WAR,DRILL,DRILL,DRILL.....thats all they know.

A vote for McCain is a vote for Bush.

Boy, some of you really like the taste of that kool aid.
Drink up!
:chug

It's easy if you know that aside from social issues there is nary a dime of difference tween the dems and the GOP.

this country has never seen such a mess... magna carta is gone.. due process is gone... this is no longer the country the founding fathers worked for... 8 years of degeneration with a glimmer of hope in november... how can anyone not feel the need to get off this dim path?

carry on... lets discuss further with more emoticons!
