Trouble is, I can go to different sites that say this racist stuff isn't true. So once again, who do you believe?

I'll read more then make my decision on what to do. I've got months yet anyway.

Time to go get something done. This :banghead is tiring.

So....what would you say to me if I were voting for Obama?

i would say congratulations on what i feel is the better choice! hell, you could tell me you were voting for McCain and I wouldn't agree with your choice, but if you had conviction and investigation invested in your decision, i would respect it... but to tell me "it doesn't matter" or "it's all the same" will lead to nothing more than pity from me... for you and all of us.

I have to say, Thompson's and Lieberman's speeches were very very good, and the fact Thompson never once said Obamas name yet still got his message across..was great and shows character! Unlike the at the DNC every speaker brought up MaCain's name and trashed him....whos got character?

Well, actually.. I remember that almost all of the speakers at the DNC were sure to loudly proclaim that they respected John McCain as a person as well as his service to this country, just that they did not like his policies or where he wants to take the country.

And from watching the RNC last night, they may not have said Obama's name... But we all know who they were talking about. I'd rather someone say the name and be honest about their feelings instead of not saying it, and directing the comments anyway... but that's just me. :lol

Do not expect FARENHIET 451 by Ray Bradbury to be listed as the favorite novel of Sarah Palin.

Todays NY Times

Quote:
And for some, Ms. Palin’s first months in office here were so jarring — and so alienating — that an effort was made to force a recall. About 100 people attended a meeting to discuss the effort, which was covered in the local press, but the idea was dropped.

Shortly after becoming mayor, former city officials and Wasilla residents said, Ms. Palin approached the town librarian about the possibility of banning some books, though she never followed through and it was unclear which books or passages were in question.

Ann Kilkenny, a Democrat who said she attended every City Council meeting in Ms. Palin’s first year in office, said Ms. Palin brought up the idea of banning some books at one meeting. “They were somehow morally or socially objectionable to her,” Ms. Kilkenny said.

The librarian, Mary Ellen Emmons, pledged to “resist all efforts at censorship,” Ms. Kilkenny recalled. Ms. Palin fired Ms. Emmons shortly after taking office but changed course after residents made a strong show of support. Ms. Emmons, who left her job and Wasilla a couple of years later, declined to comment for this article.

In 1996, Ms. Palin suggested to the local paper, The Frontiersman, that the conversations about banning books were “rhetorical.”

We're definitely going to have flawed leaders no matter what. The question is what's more important to you, books or babies?

I'd say books, maybe babies if they are already born. :D

(Yes, I'm pro choice, liberal and heavily denounce any censorship of art. I wouldn't condone an abortion in my own family, but I do respect that it is a woman's choice to do with her body what she will.)

They seemingly forgot to talk about the economy also. :duh

And I'm pro-books--they last longer. :)

Obama certainly is.

What on earth is an anti-baby candidate? Seriously.

Seems as though arguing politics is a pointless battle. Neither side ever changes teams because of a comment on the internet... or in real life for that matter.

:lol:rotfl:lol Unless they are misshaped or Sloth like, then they are tossed into the pile... We Spartans can accept no weak links.;)

Seriously though, I believe that it's the woman's choice... at least before a certain point in the pregnancy. It all goes back to control over one's own body, if the Government can say NO to something like this... What's next? Will they decide that tattoos are an affront to God and ban that? Piercings? Blood transfusions?

We are all free under the Constitution, and whether it is a Christian "no no" or simply slightly off the moral beaten path... doesn't mean it should be outlawed. But that's just my opinion.

Wow! This could change everything! Can you find this anti-baby quote?

Or is it just that you're deliberately using heated extremist rhetoric and not actually speaking about babies at all?

Well, there is a difference between "arguing" politics and discussing them. It can be done civilly and I think we are doing so in this thread so far... for the most part.

Discussion broadens minds and gets the message out to people who may not have their minds made up yet.

I do have a question though- a serious one. Do all of you actually like politics? To me it doesn't really seem like the common person really has a say in what really goes on with the government. It's too big of a machine and all of these debates and elections- they seem to just be playing with the general public and toying with the idea that you actually matter and have a say in what happens. Regardless of your vote both candidates are very similar and the results are typically the same. But that's beside the point because your vote is actually quite meaningless in reality due to our flawed and antiquated system.

So really, is it more drama you guys seek by arguing who is right and who is wrong? I find all these political debates and games in the news and on tv to be a test of my patience and intelligence. To make us think that we really matter and can make a difference just by voting is somewhat of a ridiculous notion to me.
