Almost makes me want to vote against obama as i hate diddy more than McCain. But i could never vote Republican!

Independent will most likely get my vote AGAIN!!

Just to get my views out in the open. I hate the choices we have (they're picked for us by the elite) But i would vote democratic any day before i EVER voted for a republican. I am independent and will most likely vote that way, unless it's close in my state in which i will vote democrat cause i can't have a republican win again. But IMO Bama and George PT2 both suck ass!

Ventura 2012! :)

I really don't think it matters one bit who gets in. It'll be the same ol' thing once again. Until we get more independents in the Congress, it'll always be that us against them mentality. I sometimes think we need term limits on Congress as well. Though there's pros and cons to that too.

I can agree with that. Like most elections, the candidates will tell you whatever you want to hear or just the opposite of the person they're running against just to get into office. Then once they do that, they will "TRY" to do whatever they said they would do to get into office; but more than likely just do whatever they want regardless of what they say to get elected. I wish we had a candidate who would tell the truth both in and out of office and not talk around themselves or serve only their campaign contributors. I wish we had this guy as president

i don't know how to respond to this without offending someone's intelligence...

believe me.... i have no intent on offending anyone... IT DOES MATTER. i don't know how many times i have said in this forum alone that our rights are being stripped away... Magna Carta.... Due Process... all because of the current administration and their motives... if Gore's Presidency wasn't taken away, would we be in the mess that we are in? would we be at war? would we be ignoring the threat to our planet? IT DOES MATTER.

you are given the right to a vote... educate yourself and choose wisely.

Well said. :clap

I sometimes think we need term limits on Congress as well.

Two things that would go a long way toward fixing this country:

• Congressional term limits
• An absolute ban on gifts, services and donations to candidates

And I would have thought the last eight years proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that it matters a great deal who's sitting in the office.

And no more lobbyists!

I have typed up and erased my response to what I said earlier about four times. I doubt it will matter what I say because one side or the other won't agree anyway. That was my point all along. I was talking purely about THIS election, not the past. People choose a side and that's that. Black or White. No shades of gray. I don't like either candidate and I won't vote for either. I'm voting for someone else. Since I live in Ohio, my vote hasn't meant squat for a long time anyway. It tends to disappear! :lol

Oh......and just now deleted the rest I had to say again. If we were talking over coffee it would be different. Typing on a forum, nah.

I think it only seems that way because the Internet is an echo chamber. Everything is a shade of gray and there is no perfect candidate. But I'm mindful of 2000 and the way independent votes can allow the greater of two evils to triumph. This is an important election because it's about continuing the Bush erosion of civil liberties and rise of the police state or standing up and saying enough. Voting independent is a cop out, in my opinion.

That's why there will never be any true third party in this country. Did anyone even bother looking into Ron Paul or anyone else? Nope, because he wasn't their parties choice. Voting independent is far from a cop out. Like I said.....Black or White. One side is always right, the other wrong. That's why little gets done.

you are only proving that we get the government that we deserve.

we are given the power of the vote and we don't use it... we make excuses... we stay uneducated... we blame everyone but ourselves... we are happy to live with cop- out attitudes and a pass the buck mentality...

we have no one to blame buy ourselves for the mess we are in, yet we are too ignorant, uninformed and simple to connect the dots.

So....what would you say to me if I were voting for Obama?

Did anyone even bother looking into Ron Paul or anyone else?

I did. But while I admire his disruptive nature he's also a racist with some very worrying beliefs re: social issues. Voting independent helped put Bush in office, and that's worked out fairly disastrously. The next president will be nominating up to three Supreme Court judges and is in a position to decide whether America will continue down the Bush path toward a police state or return to its idealistic roots. Your vote matters.

How is he racist?

Watching the RNC right now... Bush's Wife talks exactly like he does... :lol

And as a Veteran, I really don't like the heavy handed approach they are taking to "service" and veterans. They are basically using us as political ammunition to support their campaign. It's a blanket statement to say that all vets approve of Iraq or of Republicans or McCain. We all don't. I know I don't.

And the cowboy hats waving in the air make me laugh a bit. :rotfl

How is he racist?

a couple examples:

Ron Paul said:
“If you have ever been robbed by a black teen-aged male, you know how unbelievably fleet-footed they can be.”

Ron Paul said:
“Given the inefficiencies of what D.C. laughingly calls the `criminal justice system,’ I think we can safely assume that 95 percent of the black males in that city are semi-criminal or entirely criminal,”

Ron Paul said:
“we are constantly told that it is evil to be afraid of black men, it is hardly irrational. Black men commit murders, rapes, robberies, muggings and burglaries all out of proportion to their numbers.”

Ron Paul said:
only about 5% of blacks have sensible political opinions
