McFarlane to kill Spawn!

Yep Spawn was interesting and good in the beginning. It rode that whole "Image" wave when artists like McFarlane,Lee,Liefeld,Larsen and a few others left the Big 2 of Marvel and DC in order to form Image.

The original 7 artists/creators that left Marvel and DC and formed Image Comics (originally distributed by Malibu Comics) and their flagship title are:

Todd McFarlane: Spawn
Jim Lee: WildC.A.T.S.
Rob Liefeld: Youngblood
Erik Larsen: Savage Dragon
Whilce Portacio: Wetworks
Mark Silvestri: Cyberforce
Jim Valentino: Shadowhawk

I used to be a big SPAWN fan in the 90's as well. I even have a letter Todd McFarlane wrote to me in response to a fan letter I sent in after Spawn #1. It was postmarked from Portland, Oregon (where he was living at the time) and it was a photocopy of an original piece of artwork from Spawn and signed in red Sharpie marker. I still have it with my "teenage years" collectibles.

The Spawn movie was lame. I saw it with one of my old girlfriends. She fell asleep during it, and I got up for candy about 4x, lol.

Only good thing about it was Theresa Randle (Wanda) from "Girl 6" fame.

On Friday, we announced the "'Death of Spawn' comic book event" -- as our first April Fools day joke! Don't worry, Todd has no intention of killing off his most famous creation. (Besides, he's already dead!) Special thanks to the Spawn creative team for going along with it all!

Sad....I guess the only way to try to fool people for April Fools day is to announce something 2-3 days before April Fools Day anymore.

Spawn stopped being good a LONG time ago.

This is just like shooting a horse with a broken leg, you're doing it a favor!

Ditto that man.... Spawn was cool for the first 12 issues and that was about it. It just lost it's edge and became a remnant of 90's cool. McFarlane is better at managing his toy company anyway, best to just let it die finally and be done with it.
