It's Specist if they don't cast an actual panther or a flamingo that identifies as a panther. Trans panthers are panthers.

At what point does it stop though? It looks like Disney are happy to keep pumping out quantity over quality. When do people stop eating it all up...
Disney will keep pumping out MCU and Star Wars content until the cows have been milked dry, no matter the cost to the legacy of the franchises (they are no longer series).

The best days of the MCU are absolutely behind us. At this point if you get a movie or series that gives you some level of enjoyment, that’s the biggest positive. I’ve gotten that twice now with NWH and Thor 4. I’m not going to say that they’re incredible movies but they gave me character arcs which were impactful to me and paid off the potentials of both imo. The thematic qualities of both really stuck with me. But 2 out of what 9? 10? projects have led me to feel something positive? That’s an awful batting average. And the ones that haven’t worked for me like Eternals have been some of the weakest of the entire franchise. I completely skipped Multiverse of Madness, Moon Knight and Ms Marvel as I wasn’t engaged in any or was unimpressed with the directions taken with the stories.

I think Phase 4 has become like a comic book store- where you only follow the characters that connect with you. The shame is, the MCU was meant to be requisite, more of an event where every movie or tv show is impactful and must watch. I mean Captain Marvel made a billion dollars and was viewed as an essential watch by many going into Endgame!!! Now we’re just getting individualised stories and there’s no impact from movie to movie except in the individual franchises. In some ways, it’s led to more director voice. But in far more damaging ways- it’s led to weaker projects which have cascaded into an MCU I just don’t care about anymore. I didn’t think that would have been possible a few years ago…but here we are. And the idea of the X-Men entering THIS version of the MCU? I shiver at the thought. That’s just my take though :)

Guilty as charged!

I will say this though.

Phase 1-3 I went multiple times to the theater some as many as 3-5 viewings each AND I own all of them!

For phase 4 I have only watched NWH twice and all the others only once and I do not own any from phase 4!

In other words I’m watching phase 4 just to keep up with the overall narrative, which is not so great, and because I’m bored lol

Phase 1-3 I will forever revisit because I love them!

Hell I can’t even judge phase 4 overall narrative because it doesn’t even have one it has no identity like phase 1-3 had.

I firmly believe that Marvel’s last big movie for 2022 the Shuri lead BP2 will be the movie to finally top TGM as my favorite movie for this year…

I can't wait to see the girl fight between Shuri & Riri over who's the smartest Avenger, err I mean the smartest most intelligent person in all of the MCU.....

:yess:

Those stupid boys (Tony, Bruce, Hank & Reed) got nothing on these girls... :monkey3

So that is it for Phase Four. I liked NWH, MK and DS2. I just feel like while you can use D+ to introduce more characters and build them, it just waters down the MCU movie hype and doesn't make each character such a big deal. It certainly hurts to lose Iron Man, Cap and Black Panther. Each has their epic leadership qualities that is now lacking for the MCU and Avengers.

Now that phase 4 has actually ended, I'm curious to hear peoples thoughts overall. I don't think this is a unique take, but I found Endgame to be an amazing wrap up so naturally anything to come after already had that working against it. Doesn't help when I feel like the quality has dropped immensely. I've felt no need to rewatch ANY of phase 4 and at this point I've pretty much checked out on Marvel. The only project that got me genuinely excited was NWH, and even then it might not hold up on rewatches for me (I am not a big Spidey fan). Moon Knight was actually a nice surprise for me; I knew nothing about the character going in but I found the concept to be intriguing.

I did something similar in the DCEU thread but I made a tier list for phase 4, trying my best to rank them relative to phases 1-3 too. Needless to say we don't have any Winter Soldier level content in here.

The only upcoming project I care about is Daredevil: Born Again.
