Welp, that's it for me. I wasn't expecting them to go full Skeletor mode with him -- heck, they could've gone with Udon -- but seeing them apply the same generic overly-paneled moto costume design to one of my favorite characters sucked all of my enthusiasm for whatever comes next. There shouldn't be this much similarity between the suits of cosmic characters, military characters, and basement-dwelling science nerds.

It’s just a concept drawing

I agree it's just concept art, but Blade3327 makes a valid criticism. There is *a lot* of similarity in terms of suit design across disparate characters right down to the placement of the often busy and useless panelling. Why do Captain Marvel's pants look like she ransacked Captain America's closet? Or was it Ant-Man's pants? Wait, I can't tell the difference ... even Thor's biker pants aren't much different.

I love the MCU but they've got to get out of the costuming rut they're in, both in terms of design and colour selection.

Maybe Taskmaster will be yet another disgruntled Stark employee which is why his clothes look like everyone else's, lol.

He’ll be on the new Disney + sitcom:

“Everyone Hates Tony”

I’m starting to ****ing hate that ****. It makes this supposed universe very small since everything is connected to stark.

Iron Man and Thanos fighting on Titan lightyears away from earth.

Tony- "You know me?"

Thanos - "I do."

Can't wait for

Galactus -" Surfer, conquer tony starks's planet for me."

Silver Surfer - "You know Tony too?"

Galactus - " n I c a owes me 12 bucks. "

The MCU’s main concept artist became their head of Visual Development, Ryan Meinerding.
He’s been with the studio since Iron Man and has been responsible for a lot of the design work since the beginning. His work is basically in every Marvel Studio artbook (I own a lot of them).

So the style consistency you’re seeing is likely from Ryan or his influence on the other concept artists.

Ryan and his team have been CRUSHING it over the past decade designing the look of the MCU. I love his work and get the pleasure of seeing his Art files Hi-Res.
He's the reason Mysterios costume looks as badass as it does

I'm familiar with Ryan's work and while I'm a big fan of a lot of it, my opinion on 'consistency' sliding towards 'implausibly monotonous' stands.

I'm aware that there's an argument to be made that if form follows function, we would see convergent evolution of design on what are intended to be functional costumes in-universe, and that we're seeing the language of the superhero visual trope consistently interpreted for the MCU...but one of the most glaring examples of what I see as lazy art direction would be the stylistic similarity between Kree and Earth gear -- and as mentioned earlier the list goes on.

It's possible to be consistent and hit the right notes without resorting to a 90s Gap commercial: "Everybody in panel lines."
