Alright, I opened him up yesterday. I must say that I am surprised at how much I like him. I like him
a lot. The robes are well made and not cheap feeling or looking( just a bot too clean, but not for long). Not only is the sculpt of the head better than the SSC version so are the hands. They look great and much more Yoda like. One thing did surprise me is the paint. This is probably the best Medicom paint I've seen. Not HT or modern day quality of course but pretty good I think. In fact I'm not even positive this would need a full on re-paint rather than a more 'add to' approach. I think the color is close to what Yoda looked like in ESB. Don't get me wrong it could definitely benefit from some paint mainly to bring out the finer details of the sculpt, especially around the mouth and forehead. If nothing else is to be painted than the yes most certainly need it. It's that typical flat paint look from figures of old. And he ahs not one but two doll dots in each eye.
As you know he's not very articulated but I don't think I will be needing much more than standing with a cane. Mine doesn't stand up to well on his own without the cane. So he genuinely does need it to stand!
Anyone else have this problem? All in all I think Medicom made a very nice SW piece. I'm really digging him and the fact that I bought in the price range that I wanted to spend makes it all the better. $53 is good for a collectible that you really like, even if he is half the size of my other dollies.
Vintij- In hand his neck really isn't long at all. I think it's quite accurate really. But I know what you're talking about though. The thing is in a lot of those pics posted people have Yoda craning his neck upwards as far as it can go and the loose skin sculpted under his chin make him look like he has a "turtle neck".
When his head it positioned normally/straight he looks like he should look. I'll post some pics later or tomorrow.
