Yeah, the scale issue of concern was mainly the height between 3P0 and R2. See this image and then compare it to Medicom's R2 and 3P0:

Now see Medicom's attempt:

Someone should get fired over that.

I'm not bothered by the Medicom's height in relation to other 1/6 figure lines (I own one of their Batman figures and love it), it's how short R2 is relative to 3PO. Personally, it bothers me, but then I'm a huge Star Wars nerd and we have a reputation as nit pickers. :emperor Your mileage may vary. :D

I know, still no biggie to me. (i'm just happy were getting lights :))

Another picture to show you R2's height & size with C3PO, Luke & Leia.

Medicom should see this.

That's why I have to laugh a little reading that article, since they make such a big deal about getting them accurate and so forth, and yet it seems that they didn't take into account their relative sizes.

R2 had Kenny Baker most of the time inside so it should be bigger. I hope Medicom guys will notice the height and do something about.

As for the pictures I uploaded them somewhere else so they will stay up for sure (I prefer not to use hotlinking except for sites like sideshow which are always up with their photos):

I doubt they're going to scrap everything they've done up until now to make it another inch taller or whatever. I'd just like to know what the reason behind the height difference is. The sad thing is that R2 will likely be VERY undersized next to a Sideshow figure.

Hasn't there always been scaling issues with the R2 units compared to 3PO? I know the Hasbro one was a short arse also the vinyl one made by kyodo (spelling?) was undersized too...
I love the main production pic though. It's like 3PO is looking into the camera and saying "Oh my, R2 should be this tall"

The Hasbro ones are indeed off in terms of scale as well, although the Kotobukiya one (if that's what you mean) seems to have the relative scale just right. The problem is that the two of them are very small compared to 1/6 scale figures.

Wow that looks perfect but no I think there was an old Japanese company that made unbuilt vinyl kits back in the day. Last year i picked up both off of ebay and built/painted them for my Jabba display. (Not perfect but they're background figures for the main display) and there was definite scale issues there between the two.
Going back to Medi's attempt, the scale is pretty distracting however if 3PO is chromed up along with R2's blinky lights, this'll be hard to pass up. Definitely going to have them stand along with my Medi Anakin

the kotobukiya version is superb, from the sculpt to the paint apps. and the size correlation between the 2 droids is spot on. i have it and see no need for any other version of the droids. icruise is right about the size, it's closer to 1:7 scale. but since i don't display it with other figures, that's a non-issue.

I've always liked this set, never bought anything Koto but these have always stood out. Oh and the McQuarrie piece too. Do you have these icruise?

Yes I have them. They're very well done, although they are basically just vinyl statues and not articulated. And then there's the size issue that we talked about.

R2 is not just a little too small for Threepio; he's like a full head shorter..........This is a fairly major issue

I am sure Sideshow wouldn't commit this mistake for their 1/6th R2 and 3PO. They have already done the pair in life size, ought to know well the relative scale between the two. :)

The scale is not an issue for me and I think these two are looking great.

Still a pass though, due to the inevitable high price.

That's too bad about R2. Oh well I'll wait for SSC for the 1/6th or PF versions.
