Are you guys serious with all of this "R2 is too short" silliness?

Look carefully.

The in-process shot of the Medi figure does not have the wheels on the bottom of the "feet". The R2 in the screen shot does.

Unless Medicom plans to make R2 a Monster Truck edition, he'll NEVER be even close to the correct height. Maybe they plan to use wheels like these:

Wheels would add a miniscule amount of height to R2, which would NEVER make R2 rise up to 3P0's extended arm (see photo). Also, R2's circumference is way too small. It's not his height alone. He's a miniature version of what he should be in every direction, compared to the 3P0 in the photo.

And before people start whining, these aren't "rivet counter" complaints. These are legitimate critiques about over-priced product that look comically out of scale in production photos. If these companies want our money for these absurdly over-priced toys, they need to start making them better (non-floppy bodies, correct head sizes, correct scale, good sculpts that actually reflect subject matter, etc).

Im thinking of getting 3PO to stick behind Jabba but I know he's going to only match the Medi figures. *sigh* Impatience.

It's awesome that r2 lights up, but why does the cylinder thing on top of his head light up? It's not supposed to.

The detail on these two is amazing. Too bad about the height issue. But then hasn't Medicom always made their figures just under 1/6?

I'll stick with my Kotos until SS comes around.

It's awesome that r2 lights up, but why does the cylinder thing on top of his head light up? It's not supposed to.

It should light up, just not the whole thing. I imagine the prototype in the picture is not fully painted, so the entire thing lights up. But in the final product the light should just come out of the end.

What if R2 is the right size and 3po is to big?:horror

That would be great, since a "too big Medicom C-3PO" would be proper 1/6 scale. :monkey5 I don't see that happening though.

We don't know yet, but considering that simple human figures like Han Solo have had an MSRP of around $180 recently, I'm afraid they'll be over $200. I'll be waiting for the inevitable price cuts a while after release.

I always laugh when people complain about scale. (i know it bothers some) but to me it's such a non factor sorry, but i gotta laugh.

When people come over and look at my collection they always go-"Aww ???? your collection is ruined, your Medicom Yoda is not to scale with your ESB SS Luke. You should not even of bought it man...Looks like crap."

"My naked eye didn't notice, but upon looking at your different boxes, one of your SS Troopers in the background doesn't quite match up to that Medicom Trooper in the front"

/end Sarcasm

Not here to offend, i guess i just look at them for what they truly are- TOYS!
(it really is liberating to not have to WORRY about these things in life :))

But yeah i know, it's your $

:peace
There are also folks who laugh at those who drink good beer while they throw back their cans of PBR.

I laugh at the drinkers of PBR, but then, there's no accounting for taste.

In any case, I'm not buying $150 action figures for the benefit of "people who come over"; I'm buying them for me, and drastic disparities in relative scale bug me when I'm looking at stuff on my shelves, though this is somewhat dependant on what it is.

R2 looking way short in comparison with C-3PO is something that would bother me a great deal, so before I bite I'm going to see how these turn out.

I wonder how the medi-R2 is going to stack up against the Gentle Giant statue version; this should be interesting since GG will have worked on both of them.

Also, how does the previously-released Gentle Giant C-3PO stack up scale-wise? I'm sure this will require its own thread to get results, but I'd love to see this statue with the Hasbro POTF 3PO and other 1:6 figures.

I took these photos quite a while ago. The first shows the Gentle Giant Statue, Kotobukiya figures, and Hasbro C-3PO. I still think the Hasbro C-3PO is too big, but clearly the Gentle Giant C-3PO is too small, and the Kotobukiya is much too small.

Gentle Giant has said that their upcoming R2-D2 statue will be more true 1/6 scale than the "petite" C-3PO was, though.

WTF Medicom?!!
R2 is way too small...

Medicom meet Kuzeh, Kuzeh meet Medicom.

:)

(Medicom don't give a ???? about scale, never has never will. There you have it kids, don't like don't buy cause they sure as hell aint going to fix it)

I myself am more concerned about price than i am about scale. :(

Yeah, the Hasbro is definitely too big... but up to this point its been the best bet for a 1/6 stand in. Mine's behind Jabba so his size is not as noticeable.

The thing I like least about the Hasbro is that the head is odd looking... rest is decent, but the head doesn't look right.
