Edit: found a better comparison pic.

The shape of the mouth and eyes is what stands out for me.

I see what you're saying, and I would add the thickness of the neck to the list of "errors". But come on, it's still Threepio. It even has virtually the same expression in the two pics you posted.

The spirit and overall look is there. I can live with the mouth being a little squared off. The eyes are the right shape IMO, it's actually the sunken bits underneath that are "wrong".

As incredibly nitpicky as this is, it's the mouth that just throws the whole thing off for me. But then I'm a Star Wars fanboi so nitpicking is in the job description. If other people like him, then great!

Another true case of ignorance is bliss. Again, if it was not pointed out i would have never noticed.

But anyways these pics sold me...https://instinctoy.blog73.fc2.com/blog-entry-894.html#
I have no interest in perfect scale, these looks like beauty's only issue is price and i'm positive these will be had for no more than 150$(or less if patient) a pop in not much time.(and that's totally worth it) Either that or they will be hard to find lol.

Yeah, the Kotobukiya ones are better. But I'm positive the Medicom ones are going to be bigger than those, at least. They were way too small to use with 1/6 scale figures.

Also they're not poseable, so it's comparing chalk and cheese.

I handled the actual pieces while setting up the Sideshow booth at SDCC, and they are noticably larger than the Koto pieces. Yes, they are still a bit compact next to Sideshow, but not too badly. And they are droids, so it's slightly forgivable.

If not for the price on these, I'd gladly get them. They were both amazing in hand, except Threepio seemed a little too orangey for me.

As for Sideshow making the droids, they've already confirmed it. The SDCC panel video even showed some of the upcoming droids in the 1/6 line. Why would they not make these.

They look great but simply too expensive. Haven't Sideshow started work on these guys already?:)

Well said Shropt. I've got the Kotobukiya set and they are flawless. No issues with 3PO's face/neck etc or R2's scale.

Perfect...so far. Let's hope the 1/4 scales are spot on.

I have the Kotobukiya droids set as well and they are among the few non-Imperials items in my collection. They are superb.

These are the best pics for viewing IMO (lots)

Personally I think Medi has outdone themselves on these two. They are the nicest looking figures I've seen them make and the light up features are great and something I don't ever see SS doing even if they make them.
Scale issue aside I just don't see anything wrong with them after watching that video. I'm really curious to see these next to some SS figures.
