Loving those Spiderman pix!

As for Threepio and Artoo, I still think they look amazing. I'm fortunate however, in that I simply don't know enough about the designs to nitpick. I would never even have known Artoo was too short unless it had been pointed out to me, let alone that his dome is too small (doesn't look it to me, but I imagine someone has measured it and checked!). So to me, they look amazing.

I'm well aware though that if it's something I do know intimately (like Giger's Alien), then inaccuracies can be a real deal-breaker. So to those of you who "suffer" that affliction - my condolences, and I hope Sideshow's versions repay the faith you have in them to better these figures.

Trust me, these are just as inaccurate (if not moreso) than Hot Toys' Giger Alien. Indeed you are lucky if you can't see it. Too bad your wallet won't be if you buy these figures at retail.

Oh, I believe you. And if you were to show me a reference pic which showed that Threepio had a silver neck say (which I think you already did), I'd have nothing to say other than "Gee, you're right". But just as those who can't see or don't care about the inaccuracies of the HT Giger Alien can safely enjoy their figure for what it is, so it will be with me and these droids.

Bottom line, I like 'em, and I don't care if they're off. They'll look damn cool all lit up next to my other stuff in my games room.

My wallet can cope thanks. :)

Actually, I just realized you are in the UK. Man, I really feel for you collectors over there (and in places like Australia/New Zealand). You really take it in the shorts when it comes to costs. :monkey2 But I supposed you're more than used to it by now. We're a bunch of spoiled brats over here. :lol

Yeah, it's a pain. If I manage to get a Medicom figure for under $150 delivered, I'm happy. Sideshow figures cost as much to import (sometimes more), so there would have to be a serious USP for me to go for those if I happen to think the Medicom version is superior.

For example, this Sideshow Vader would cost me $199 plus $47.30 shipping!

If I liked the figure enough, I'd get it, but since I managed to get Medicom's for about $150 delivered and I much prefer it, it's a no-brainer.

I really want the Sideshow Sandie with Black Pauldron though. Best price I can get is $186!

All it really means is that I'm selective with my purchases. I'm only interested in armoured figures from the OT, and in fact there isn't a massive amount of crossover between Medicom and Sideshow in that area anyway. If you want a Royal Guard, Tie Fighter Pilot or Boba Fett (and now Threepio and Artoo), there is only one way to go and I ain't good on waiting!

Bummer there seem to be so many issues with these. Overall the package looks nice, but for the price I'll wait it out.

Yeah, Artoo is smaller all round isn't he. It is bizarre that the sculptor seemingly hasn't got a pair of measuring calipers.

Its fair to compare the figures to their screen counterparts sometimes to see how accurate it is. The thing though that bothers me is that a figure can be so epic then someone points out something inaccurate and people focus on that. Next thing you know, that's all they see and whine how the figure is a failure. :slap

Take for instance the Berserker Predator. My god, that thing looks phenomenal, and everyone at first kept saying, definite buy, etc. Then soon as someone posted the inaccuracies...then BAM...lots of please HT, fix the figure.

I would agree if lets say, the figure doesnt look a thing like the character...but seriously, from looking at the pic above, you can put a star wars background on that and it looks like something shot in the movies. I focus on the beauty of it. Let the whiners cry about their need for 100% screen accuracy.
I wish I have the funds for these two right now. They're beautiful in my opinion.

I think the point is these are significant failures for the price they are charging us for these items. It's not nitpicking or whining.

It's critique of product, and critique that is actually warranted, based on clearly observable factors.

I for one am always amazed when people try to silence such warranted critique. These companies need to know they can't release often substandard overpriced items without us expecting good quality and accuracy.

I'd rather be a "whiner" than a shill. Not saying anyone here is a shill, but the bashing of critique as crazy 'whiners', etc, sure gets out of hand sometimes.

It doesn't look like you could fit a 1/6 Kenny Baker in a Medicom R2.

Medicom fail.

Same people in this thread over and over that have no interest in these figs. Hmmmmm, i wonder why that is.

Trolls?

Someone wake me when gohastings gets these.

I actually agree with this. I can see quite clearly that R2 isn't the right size, and if I looked closer I'm sure I could find more that's wrong. I don't mind people pointing these things out at all, they're facts. Fortunately for me, the overall look is still there, so I still like the figures.

What grinds my gears is that EVERY Medicom thread here is filled with the same old tedious bollocks about how "Sideshow's will be better/I'll wait until they're cheap/they're too small/they'll break/the bodies are like teenagers" etc, etc. I mean, does no-one ever stop, look at their post and think "Actually, I'm not sure that's really adding anything helpful to the discussion"?

Do the Sideshow versions also have working lights?

Not like it is super important, but it adds a lot to the fun.
