I actually agree with this. I can see quite clearly that R2 isn't the right size, and if I looked closer I'm sure I could find more that's wrong. I don't mind people pointing these things out at all, they're facts. Fortunately for me, the overall look is still there, so I still like the figures.

What grinds my gears is that EVERY Medicom thread here is filled with the same old tedious bollocks about how "Sideshow's will be better/I'll wait until they're cheap/they're too small/they'll break/the bodies are like teenagers" etc, etc. I mean, does no-one ever stop, look at their post and think "Actually, I'm not sure that's really adding anything helpful to the discussion"?

Do the Sideshow versions also have working lights?

Not like it is super important, but it adds a lot to the fun.

you mean the medicom 3PO sold thru SSC? it should. Medicom products are pretty much the same across all markets.

But if you mean SSC's 3PO that they will make eventually? who knows? But IMO they should include that feature.

I meant the upcoming versions made by Sideshow.

Was only wondering because I can not recall a 1/6 figure they made with working lights.

Not that I am a big fan of this extra gadgetry, but in this case it really adds fun.

But thank you for the reply Minivader ;-)

Hot Toys will help Sideshow with the droids... and they put lights in their figures all the time. In fact, they basically broke ground on that in 1:6 scale and continue to push that envelope. I wouldn't worry about it.

i find it hard to believe that people would wait for sideshow's promise for the droids. will they produce them before or after completing the fellowship? seeing is believing. now if anyone has anything more than a perhaps from ss, i'd like to see it.

From "Ask Sideshow" 1/22/2010:

Q: Are there any plans to release a 12-inch scale R2-D2 and or C-3PO? You’ve made them life-size, but for the average collector they’re too expensive. I think that it would be great to release them in a two-pack like the Han and Luke as Stormtroopers.

A: Yes, we are in development on both droids for 1:6 scale, and they’re likely to see release in 2011.

Yeah, but that figure sucked. Seriously, it's by far the worst experience I've had with Sideshow. With mine, the legs on the mechanochair bent out of shape in a matter of days, just from the weight of the Sidious statue. And the paint caused the parts to stick together so when I tried to access the battery compartment, I ended up pulling out the entire electronics assembly, ripping the wires and basically breaking everything.

Plus, it doesn't really count since we're talking about normal 1/6 figures with lighting.

And there's the key word... likely...
I'd be very surprised if we get to see the prototypes by SDCC next year...
even with that... it took them almost a year to release Vader after showing him @ SDCC.... I'll stick with the 2012 release...

I was supposed to return mine, but it completely slipped my mind so now I have a f'd up one :lol The light switch came loose and while it all still works its kind of a pain to get him to light up :lol

Not to mention after I got him I realized how stupid of an item it was :lol

Great pics! Not sure they are worth their respective price, but they are fantastic looking figs (even with the scale issue).
