A few months back, Capcom announced Mega Man Online (not to be confused with Mega Man Universe), an MMO developed by Capcom and Korean studio Neowhiz. Currently, not much is known about it except that it's still Korea and Japan exclusive for now, but they did just release a supremely EPIC teaser trailer:

I just want a full-length film or series using that animation style, Capcom. I'm sure other big Mega Man fans would agree. :D

I've only really played one MMMMMMMMO (city of heros/villains)

I'm interest to see how they pull it off exactly. I mean...a mega man game where you don't play as mega man?

And I wonder if you can play as your own created Robot Master, and work for Wily

Love Mega Man though not a fan of Anime.:monkey4

Better than this:

aww...I used to like that show as a kid...It wasn't that bad :(

I was daydreaming about this video all day yesterday and it was the first thing I thought about when I woke up this morning. I sincerely hope *something* comes of this.

With Universe, a rumored new installment or remake of Legends, this, and Keiji Inafune as Capcom's global head of production, Mega Man is poised to come back in a big way.

Can. Not. Wait. :panic::panic::panic:

It's funny that you say that after looking at your display pic and sig because Metal Gear Solid and Street Fighter are both very animeish (hell, the SF2 anime movie was the best videogame to movie adaption). MGS is very animeish in its story telling and designs and SF being even more obvious of the two. Too many people judge anime by the kiddy stuff on tv like Bleach, Pokemon or Dragon Ball Z. The stuff that comes on TV. You should check something out like Jin-Roh, Perfect Blue, Princess Mononoke, Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust, Paprika (one of the films that inspired Inception and Ellen Page's character is even a tribute) etc.

MGS is "very animeish"? I don't see it. SF animes are very anime, but just because it's japanse doesn't make it anime like.

It's all very cheesy and hokey. The story lines are always so slow, and drawn out, and just overanalyzed, they bore me to death. And the lack of original style, it's all the same. I loved Mega Man when he was 8-bit...before the anime intros started and all that jazz.

Lots of mediums are influenced by anime in Japan, which makes sense, since anime is "their thing", a strong part of their culture/pop culture.

Over the top bosses and characters like Gray Fox, Raiden in 4 (and the fact he's a bishi type character in general), Metal Gears themselves both Ray and Rex are very anime/mech like (Otacon even mentioned they're based off of anime). The way the story is driven out with it's crapload of dramatic dialogue and strong character development is also something anime is very well known for. It has the formula down to the bone. The Raiden vs Vamp scenes in 4 alone is one of the most anime like things about the series. It's hard to compare though if you've never seen that much anime outside of whatever you probably seen on tv aimed for kids.

Did you know the hadouken was based on Goku's Kamehameha and I'm pretty sure Ryu is also inspired by Kenshiro as well.

*edit* Would also like to add that I'm in no way an anime fanboy. I dislike about 80% of the popular anime some people have suggested to me and it doesn't help that so much of the popularity of anime here is driven by the sort of people who think that anime is some special godsend medium with a special insight into humanity and they'll definitely go live in japan when they grow up

I should probably post something that's related to the topic so here it goes. I would've liked to have seen some sort of gameplay instead of just an anime sequence and I'm more curious about Mega Man Universe.

And Astro Boy was inspired by Mickey mouse. :nana:

Hahaha. ;) I hope I'm not coming across as some anime worshiper since I do love me comics and cartoons as well. Both mediums have a lot of good and bad and I respect them both. Maybe it's the half Jap in me blood.

So back to the topic at hand and off the nuts of anime...

I want to see a darker slightly more mature Mega Man.

I think it cries out for it, ditch the lame anime stuff, the girlish voice mega man, and bring Mega Man into a new generation.

There were always those themes, and undertones of humans and robots and the story could be so much deeper if they just let it breath.

I always think back to this image:
