I just bought another Sam and Frodo for Merry and Pippin. I think I'll be dyeing their clothes and that should be just about right. :)

Here is the break down of how I am using Frodo and Sam for Merry and Pippin

Merry

1. Sam's white shirt
2. Frodo's Vest (dyed yellow)
3. Frodo's jacket (dyed forest green)
4. Sam's Pants (dyed dark brown)
5. Frodo's weathertop sword and scabbard
6. Frodo's cloak (dyed grey)
7. Frodo's elven cloak.

Pippin

1. Frodo's shirt (sam's is prolly closer to accuracy but with the scarf it shouldn't matter)
2. Frodo's jacket (dyed light dark blue-green)
3. Frodo's pants (dyed dark green)
4. Sam's sword and scabbard from weather top.
5. Sam's cloak (dyed charcoal)
6. Sam's elven cloak.
Really it all comes down to the scarf and sweater. How to do those is the hardest part (seriously) about this whole custom job.

He he exactly! I didn't even know he wore a sweater until someone here mentioned it in the Gimli thread. :lol

Why does the vest worry you?

The detail quilting on the vest is necessary for me since it's such a focal point and most recognizable part of the costume.

Since it isn't seen, not really necessary to make a sweater, right? Got a picture of it? I've not seen a sweater in any Hobbit Fellowship outfit. Might as well make the suspenders, mithril shirt and underwear as well. :huh

Sorry, I don't understand. I see 2 shirts, 2 jackets, 2 pants, 2 cloaks and a vest and a scarf.

If you look closely Pippin is wearing an off-white Scottish style ribbed knit sweater. Not a shirt.

Ah. I see. I was calling that an embroidered shirt as it looks nothing like a sweater. :lol

Call it what you will. The material seems to be the same cut, thickness and drape of Frodo's shirt.

Also, if you want accuracy, Pippin's pants should be made from a similar corduroy fabric as Sam's jacket.

Phew! Its not a sweater. Its a funkadelic shirt. :lol

I have amended my recipe:

Merry

1. Sam's white shirt
2. Frodo's Vest (dyed yellow)
3. Frodo's jacket (dyed forest green)
4. Sam's Pants (dyed dark brown)
5. Frodo's weathertop sword and scabbard
