I mean sure people have their complaints about SOL but there is no denying how goods it's pace, gameplay, atmosphere and setting are all tremendous.

I agree with you Dylan. Look at all the new figures Revolmini, Nendroid and the first figma is a MGS2 version!? I think Konami is responding to the popularity of the PlayArts in part. People still refer to the main character being SolidSnake

The BigBoss/Raiden collectible are to promote the newest MetalGear games. Peace Walker, Rising and now MGSV. Why wouldn't they make figures of those guys?

Exactly. Big Boss figs don't sell as well when he has a game coming out with huge hype where as a Solid Snake figure sells better and it's based off a game that came out 16 years ago.

So popular there has been a total of 3 action figures made of him in over 25 years?

i think since PAK MGS Snake they realized there is more of a market for Solid than they thought, outside of MGS1

Transplanted a new ttm-19 body into my original old snake, it fills his suit in very nicely. I now have a lot more movement that actually holds its place. As you can imagine the suit is still restrictive but it makes old snake more lifelike compared to the old medicom one. Amnurs head actually looks good on it now. The hands were hollow so i cut the fingers off the relaxed hands and filled them in with those so i could get some wrist articulation with the use of pegs. Im pretty happy with the results. Heres a couple of pics.

There were the two Mcfarlane figs the three medicom UDF figs the two 1/6 Medicom figs the Konami 12 inch figure and now the Play Arts and various ones coming out. I think the play arts line made them realize how much demand there was for MGS figures because before that there was next to no MGS collectibles ever.

Damn i forgot Old Snake is Solid Snake, in my head i was thinking MGS1 & 2 (the cool ones)

I didn't add the UDFs because they aren't articulated, i should have really. I forgot about the 1/6 Yamato one too

fine...... i take it all back :lol

Thanks everyone, i enjoyed making old snake better. I now have much more interest in this figure and really want an octocamo version for the olive drab version now more than ever. Ill have to contact amnur.

I feel the dislike of MGS2 seems mostly based the US. Literally every MetalGear fan I've met liked MGS1&2 the best, and sight those as the best in the series. And that MGS3 a slight misstep and even turned a few off.
Even critically/commercially MGS2 did much better than 3. I'm still surprised about the sudden dislike for 2

I'm curious CQC did the OldSnake not already have a seam around the rubber suit where it connected?

I honestly don't think MGS2 is anything less than a great game, though that it does have problems (the story can turn off some newcomers, Raiden as well...) but all games have problems that will turn off people. I also think MGS1 and 3 are great as well. I don't get the sudden dislike either

MGS 2 is like fine wine. You need to let it age, and more you play it, the deeper your appreciation for it will be. At least in my case. I first played it when I was 16 ish, and I hated it. I think I was too young back then to understand the themes that Kojima was trying to get at.

Like a lot of people I loved it instantly. Raiden at the time did sting, after realising the Gabe wouldn't let you control Snake again. But he did redeem himself by the end after his revelations and triumphs.

The game definitely lends itself to multiple playthroughs. Deep plot and a crazy amount of detail went into the game

The hate for Raiden is so miss guided. By the end of the game it's revealed he's been through more combat and trama than Sold Snake ever had. When you wright Raiden out on paper he's a bad mofo it's just the blonde hair and girlfriend that make people think otherwise.

Maybe it was that he had child baring hips. I think some didnt like Flynn as his voice. Personally I would have cast Will Freidle from Batman Beyond. He had a cool voice as batman

Mgs1 & 2 are awesome, i dont care what anyone says, i loved them both when i played them.

The suit is in 6 pieces, from the crotch to the elbows is one solid mold. You have to cut the suit down the back where it looks like old snake would have zipped it up and velrcod over the flap to where it stops just above his butt. Then you can work the body in and seal it back up after. This is the suit breakdown that i showed a couple weeks ago when i disassembled him and ordered bodies.

The ttm19 body without the thigh enhancers was a perfect fit, do not go any bigger than that. I had to work the rubber around the muscles and it was a snug fit. I also had to split the boots down each side (behind where the straps would cover over) to push feet into them, after i sealed them back up with superglue. The only tool i used to take him apart was my fingers and gently pressure on the seams. I also used an exacto knife and superglue to work on him.

I will be swapping the regular head for the one with the goggles. Looks much better, and it can be hidden to a degree with the extra scarf piece. Rest of the figure looks pretty good.

I see no big problems with the heads, probably the best big boss PAK to date. Awesome figure, waiting for mine to arrive !!
Is the paint job shiny?? Just sweat, no big deal :wink1:

I think nothing beats the PW headsculpt, it's easily the best of the bunch and I can't fathom why PAK can't just improve from there.
