I feel we were mislead. Head articulation is a given, especially with a figure with so much articulation and detail! It is in no way any customers fault that we were not told about this missing feature.

Im not blaming you either since clearly even you didn't know. Im saying we should have been made aware of it when it came down to a choice between that and lighting. I hope 3A have learned from this

Once RAY will be closer to pre-order I'll be happy to gather all kinds of questions from MGS fans (whether it's on the forum, here or on Facebook/twitter) and send them to the office (or to engineers).

Thats much appreciated, but what im saying is that something like a main articulation point shouldn't have to be sniffed out by us in the first place.

Im only interested in Ray with a tail. Do you know the extent of 3As MGS licence, is i purely for MGS4?

Hello :)

Bambalandstore - unfortunately you will not get an automatic email about your status update, but you can send an inquiry to [email protected] and ask them to send you tracking number, once it enters the system.

Or right after I'll update ThreeA blog & our facebook page or twitter that it shipped. Of course, if it's convenient for you to stay in touch with any of the mentioned places. And I can post REX news here as well.

Head movement - I'll try to answer as precisely, as I can (even though I'm not the biggest expert in REX and MGS).

It's really unfortunate that few people thought that REX head moves left & right (based on MGS game), even though it wasn't directly mentioned anywhere.

Actual REX VOX newsletter crafted by Ashley Wood had photo of REX which went out before the sale:

On all these photos there is no sign of left & right head movement, there is a mention of authentic articulation and that everything been approved by Konami and Yoji Shinkawa. I don't remember any major discussion on our forum about REX and head articulation in particular, until REX was shown on display at Re-Venture in April/May (3A exhibition at HK and it was discussion about it's color, as it was different on photos) and later few photos of production model surfaced at KOJIMA twitter (mostly people were talking about color and size though, here is one of his pics for example: https://i.imgur.com/i57kb.jpg ), REX thread at our forum was flooded with questions.

My reaction to head articulation discussion in the thread. I decided to contact the engineer and ask him about color (was it changed) and confirm absence of neck articulation, just to be 100% sure. Unfortunately he wasn't at the office and busy , so the answer came in four days, on August 24th: direct link.

In fact I remember that first major discussion we had, was right after the sale , but it was about screwholes, I informed Ashley Wood about it and it was decided that we will cover the most of them. So, as for the questions about REX: I started contacting engineer on regular basis with people's questions and gathering even more questions (was gathering all the questions for 24 hours), and all started with question about left & right movement.

So, what I wanted to say that this feature was never advertised on REX new prototype and actual pre-production model. Once there was an open discussion about this - I contacted the engineer and informed involved parties right there on the forum (since question was brought up on the forum).

I'm really sorry if some of you would like REX less, because of left & right head movement absence...I hope that once you will have him in hand, you will fell in love with this gigantic beast.

For future references (Ray for example, which happens in the first half of 2013): we always advice to contact our CS if there any questions or problems with the orders. After each order at Bambalandstore, there is an automatic email, informing people to contact [email protected] if they have any questions, so if somebody would contact CS about head articulation, they would give precise answer straight away, as they work in the same office and it's easier for them to contact production team or engineer for answers.

edit: typos and checking stuff for proper timeline and precise answer

Gimbat! It's great seeing you on SSF - I didn't even know that you were a member here! I'm Solidus from the ThreeA forum - my username is the same everywhere :lol. Your thoughtful reply is very much appreciated!

As for REX: I, for one, was immensely disappointed when I heard news that the head wasn't fully articulated. It was something that should been standard to the figure, and it absolutely should not have been sacrificed for an electronic light-up gimmick. It would have been better to just ditch the lights all-together, rather than to create such an issue in the first place.

But, there's still time to resolve things on Metal Gear RAY - which is another figure that I'm looking forward to. In terms of movement, RAY is a much more dynamic mech than REX. So, it's my hope that the engineers at ThreeA manage to create a fantastic looking RAY figure that's extremely well-articulated.

Don't get me wrong, it's not that I'm dictating to ThreeA on how you should go about making figures. You guys have been doing this for years, and you've certainly mastered the art of producing some high-quality pieces. But, as dedicated MGS fans that many of us are in this thread - there are certain things that we expect from figures to remain true to the source material. I know that you've already heard an ear-full of it on the ThreeA forum, but aesthetics is certainly important (accurate shape, color, screw holes :lol, panels, etc). Articulation is also of great importance.

Anyway, thanks again for posting, and for your involvement, my friend! I look forward to hearing from you again with updates! :clap :hi5: :peace

Thanks for the clarification. I appreciate you taking the time to explain this all to me. I guess I never noticed that there was an old and new prototype of Rex. I had seen the color changes but assumed it was the same piece. As I look at the first pictures of Rex I saw which was in ‎September ‎‎2011, I now notice there were no electronics installed and there are changes overall all over the body. Way more detail now and way more accurate to Rex! I see just about everything was changed for the better. Ill admit the lack of head articulation just plain sucks but you guys have done an superb job. :clap :rock

I think it is a great idea for you to pop in more often and share any new info (good or bad) that presents itself. And it would definately be good to come by and hear our feedback and comments. There are some SUPER MGS diehards in this thread who can see the most tiniest of details and have great ideas which could help push these pieces even farther into perfection. Looking forward to getting Rex and seeing more of Ray. BTW roughly when are the Bambaland orders gonna start shipping? Thanks again.

Wait... I thought you ordered your REX from Bambaland, Jason. But, yeah, January sucks. These delays are getting kind of ridiculous.

nah, i didnt really care about the extras. i am a figure collector, but, could care less about that snake fig. its so small i dont actually consider it a figure. also, im displaying my rex as mgs1 until i get my koto kit then itll be mgs4. like i said in another post theres just not enough mgs4 figures to collect. these date rollbacks are becoming a nuisance. I WANT MY FN MILLION DOLLAR PURCHASE ALREADY!!!!!!! :gah:

As much as that sucks, the more Bamba buyers that get it first the better, I mean we did pay back in March. You got a Bamba coming right Solidus?

I've got a Bamba one supposedly coming too. $490 that 3A has been holding for 8 months. Really sucks a lot. Yeah pros and cons to that but still, 8 months so far is a long time especially when retail buyers didn't have to pay up front and got theirs first.

Those bonuses better be worth it! :monkey1

got my meryl today. i ended up rearranging the figs. sorry about my casio calculator.

How long have you kept those Mcfarlane figures? Do they not yellow or gather dust being exposed like that?

Also, my Yamato Liquid Snake seems to need constant dusting. How's yours?

Hey cool Fox pose. Maybe he could be next to Raiden doing this? :D

Nah, unfortunately not. I missed out on the Bambaland pre-order and opted for Sideshow instead. But yeah, I feel ya man. It must suck immensely, having to pay Bambaland for an order nine to ten months in advance :slap. I would have been annoyed too, if I ordered REX from Bamba and didn't get it earlier than everyone else.

Yeah, I've got the Koto kit on order too! The Old Snake figure on ThreeA REX is a nice addition - I kinda like the idea of having one despite the small size :lol. Might have to hunt one down on EBay or elsewhere. Hopefully the prices won't be too ridiculous :monkey1.
