Would it really even be worth it? That's a huge piece to have to repaint and in doing so you lose all the weathering too.

It most likely depends how good painter one is. You don't loose the weathering, because after repaint you can do it again. Judging by the pictures the official paintjob is above average, but that's it. Good painter can do at least the same or better job. It depends what kind of a look you are after.

Since it is expensive collectible model, it might not be a good idea to repaint it unless you really know what you are doing and how you should do it.

The color at this point doesn't bother me as much as the beak light. I mean if the lights are going to hinder articulation, GET THEM RIGHT!

I found this pic. theres a little peace of clear plastc at the tip of the beak that connects to the side lights, so in the dark it'll appear lit

it doesn't look like they would be able to since the top opens up there. Im still surprised by the amount of detail in this thing when they skipped over such basic things lol

Exactly, these minute details are a eye sore. The fact that the missile pack does not have latched doors like in MGS4 and they made them exactly how the knee missile launchers are just electable panels.

which again makes me even more surprised that a tinier model kit got everything right? Especially when on top of that we only saw kotobukiyas rex 3months ago, when 3A have been on it for 4 years

Definitely. It's so weird that the Koto kit will include all of the missing features from the ThreeA figure :monkey1.

I'm just glad that I'm getting both of them.

Yep, everything is right except that it's unpainted and comes in a bazillion pieces hahaha

What were all these missing features again? Cause the only thing I see is the missile pod covers that stay attached.

Also the Koto REX is like 1/7 the price of the 3A REX :dunno

Thats because Koto Rex is only 1/7 the figure 3A Rex is.

The pieces come molded in the correct colors already. It won't look as nice if you don't paint it yourself, but it will still be accurate color wise.

Head articulation, flip-open missile pods, rail gun dis-assembly (I'm guessing for an Arsenal Gear attachment like in MGS 4), crouching stance - those are the features that I've seen so far that aren't included in ThreeA REX, but that are included in the Koto figure.

As for which of the two are "better", that will depend on your own perspective. While ThreeA REX is certainly large, the Koto kit has many options for customization (especially in paint application), and the end result could be a more accurate but smaller figure.

Yeah the thing is like crazy articulated. Its proportions are better, the 3A version looks skinny in some parts. Its just as detailed in the sculpt, the colour is more accurate and it comes with 2 ninjas a Snake and Liquid. Like foreal!?

Its more like 1/10th of the price and the figure is at least 7-10 inches tall. So a nice size. But 3As is a beast!

Its only downfall is its a model-kit. Its been years (2003) since i bought a model kit but in my experience they are super delicate and flimsy, hopefully thats not the case anymore
