I will say the Play Arts stuff used to be a great deal… now they're kinda overpriced. I would never have bought Solidus at the original retail price of $120. No idea why he cost that much. Even at the $75 I paid for him he's a touch pricey. There was a huge jump in price out of nowhere on those wasn't there? I swear the last MGS figure before Solidus was like $40.

Well still that's a pretty big jump in price in just a few months. Solidus comes with a bit more than most but not enough to justify more than twice the cost and since then they've been more expensive, though I guess not /that/ expensive.

I cant wait to mod them. Anyone else feel like i do? Probably not. Also, you guys do know that people have different length legs and torsos right? People can have these differences and still be relatively the same height. You guys are nitpicking. Im more concerned about accuracy to game. I know that liquid is taller, dont know about leg to torso ratio. The sleeve, raidens hair, the stupid hip pack, or muscle build are legitimate arguments.

There are load of inaccuracy to the MGS PAK figures and I'm able to accept that (by now anyway) regardless, I'm looking forward to your mods as they are always awesome :hi5:.

Meanwhile Solid and Liquid are suppose to have the same height (differ by 1cm according to the book art) yet with the figures it's more like 10cm - so I don't think this is nitpicking coz it's too obvious. Other than the height issue, this figure is solid.

And ThreeA's MG REX, despite that it was missing an antenna, had inaccurate colors, and couldn't move its head. I think it's safe to say that they'll approve just about anything.

ThreeA's MG RAY does look promising though :lol. I'll get it regardless of whatever problems it might have.

The antenna really has no logical excuse to me, it's a vital piece to a section of REX that was removed. I honestly think it was forgotten, or they just based it on the BD REX.

It is based on the Bd version from MGS 4 but what a lousy excuse.
It bring tears in my eyes each time I look at the radar section :(

And it's so strange that these figures are being designed and approved by Shinkawa :slap. I don't think they look anything like the artwork, to be honest.

Funny thing is the initial Solid sculpt was much better, but he had then change it for the worst :(

I remember the sculpt actually looked better unpainted, from the prototype pics. I'd like to see someone strip all the paint off of the head, and repaint it more accurately.

Ugh... the radome is like an eyesore, if you want to have REX in its MGS 1 configuration. I just took my REX figure out from the package today and it's pretty glaring. I guess I'll post up some pics of my figure some time tomorrow.

Zelu from Final Fantasy Merchandise did that actually. He posted it here earlier

Yeah it's looks much better.

The sculpt way off though though still it doesn't look anything like Snake from MGS1

I'm not too bothered because these are the best collectibles for MGS we are going to get outside of the custom route, I'd prefer them to be game accurate but as long as they look like him I can let it slide

It's pretty obvious by now that Shinkawa doesn't really care about sticking to his artwork either, as long as it looks cool and recognisable he's ok with it not being game accurate

Oh man... I can't remember seeing that :(.

I guess the one thing that really irks me about PAK figures, are the discrepancies between the prototypes pics and the actual figures. All things considered, I really don't mind them being stylized - even away from the artwork. But, I just wish if Square improved on their manufacturing, because their figures are generally defective out of the box. Their prices need to be a tad lower, too...

It's very possible that Shinkawa likes to see stylistically different versions of his designs. I know that Mike Mignola has said this about Hellboy.

Yeah, I wouldn't doubt it. But, it's still strange seeing Shinkawa designing and approving these figures to look stylized.

In comparison, I'd say that Medicom did a much better job of capturing the likeness of Shinkawa's work (in their UDF and RAH figures) than Shinkawa himself :lol.

I'm afraid so. Just give the license back to Medicom already, they'll do a better job than HT and PAK combined.

Btw, hope everybody's all refreshed from the holidays! :peace As for me,

Yeah, and to think that I was complaining about the Medi figures years ago! :slap

Like we were talking, I've been pretty busy with some R&R myself... :lol. Glad to see everyone's back from the holiday festivities.
