Hot Toys:
Pros:
-Excellent paint apps.
-True 1/6 scale (though he's on the short side).
-Generous amounts of weapons and accessories.
-Head sculpt resembles the promo CG art for MGS:3D.
Cons:
-Limited articulation die to the suit.
-Creative liberties taken sculpting the hair (he doesn't have a mullet).
-Unimpressive shelf presence when compared side by side with other, more similarly priced Hot Toys.
-Head sculpt resembles the promo CG art for MGS:3D.
Medicom RAH (All).
Pros:
-Great articulation.
-Head sculpt is based off the game, and his eyes are spot on when compared to the in-game render.
-Clothing is nicely tailored.
Cons:
-Non-existing paint apps. (you'll need to do it yourself).
-Smaller than 1/6 scale.
-Pricey.
-Known cases of brittle bodies and some materials prone to rot.
I'd say for instant, out of the box awesomeness, go with the Hot Toys. For long term appreciation and aesthetics, go with Medicom.

Just 3 Ryan, HT Naked Snake, The Boss and the custom Solid that still isn't done. I don't know if I'll actually get my head back at this rate he's just ignoring me haha

My first encounter with a painter and with recommendation from fellow freaks so i thought i was coasting
I sent the head when i got it from Amnur in July i think it was. He emailed right up to receiving the head and then hasn't replied since. If he's busy that's cool I'd just like him to say and send it back. It'd be no biggie but alas
I actually only want it back now so i can send it onto someone else, i told him that in my last email yet he still holds on to it

Wow, I'm sorry to hear that, Frank, I remember us talking about it in the PMs ages ago. I don't know how it goes here on SSF when comes to unkept promises and unreasonable delays but if he's not replying, maybe you'd want to create a new thread asking for advice, see if the sensible suggestions comes pouring in.

I spoke with another member here who has sent heads who said he had there heads a lot longer than mine without a reply so i believe on this occasion it's just the way the cookie has crumbled
I'm sure I'll get a reply eventually. I'm not out to bad mouth the dude at all it's just the way it is, he paints for a company as well so I'm sure he's mega busy i just put it down to me being a newb and not knowing enough about customs at the time to consider all possibilities

Wonder if it's the same painter that had a thread about him recently. He really came across as a complete jerk when the buyer kept pressing him for when his item would be painted.
The problem with this place is, they defend to the teeth these miscreant custom commission turds.

those are some pretty cool pics ryan. especially the raiden/bb one.
back to the original convo, the painter should at least hit you back and say "hey, im going to need another month or 2, im swamped". were so used to waiting forever for things that i doubt it would have been an issue. at least mr. frank wouldnt have this looming feeling of doubt. i think its very poor practice. if i did something for someone id message them when i get it, as im working on it, and when im about to ship it. had he at least told frank what i originally said he would have looked like a professional and frank wouldnt have messaged him for 2 months because that was the furthest estimated date. this is why i am so scared to ship my stuff because anything id ship would be 1 off. it makes me sad to hear of this.

So I dont have Solidus yet but whats his paint like? I have Solid and Liquid + Raiden are preordered and I plan to have those three re painted but should I do the same with Solidus?

Damn you guys rule! Thanks for all the feedback. I think I might go with the Medicom RAH after all. I'm just not into the Sneaking Suit. I really wish Hot Toys went with the camo....
I think Solidus is fine right out of the box.
Yeah no complaints at all from me except for the sheaths peg on mine dont stay in very well anymore. Ill just fatten it with glue.
