It’s perplexing that Konami hasn’t released a PS4 version of 4. In fact, a trilogy for newer consoles or steam.

Other than PES, what games are they making? Are slot machines that profitable for them?

I think they are beyond caring, they make way more from pachinko. The original HD collection released the same week as COD and had no marketing what so ever.

On MGS4. It was created specifically for the PS3s complex architecture, so I don't think we'll ever see it anywhere else again [emoji29]

I'd give an arm to know what really went down with the whole V debacle. I know Konami is as much to blame as Kojima, I just hate this one sided nonsense this retarded fanbase has taken.

Kojima seems like the kind of guy that over spends on his projects. Hollywood actors, fancy dishes, trips here and over there. I mean, when does it end?

As a company, Konami has to look at maximizing profits, so I’m sure that had something to do with it.

It’d be comical if that reedus game bombs.

I'd like to see him produce a game worthwhile for the first time in 10 years, but then again I want it to fall on it's face just for people to recognize what a fraud he's become.

I'm of the mind that Konami got sick of putting up with his ****. He was probably too demanding. Just look at the retarded weird marketing V got. The bandage head guy and all that jazz. Kiefer wasn't cheap and only has like a couple pages of dialogue in the whole thing. Konami on the other hand is run by bankers, so I can't imagine they're entirely innocent either. But just look at his track record at the company. He went from one of their directors to a VP. Yeah, Konami is the ISIS of game companies... they gave this dude soo much leeway and giant budgets to games. And let's be honest, MGS hasn't been a record breaking game in over 15 years.

The one composer to the game mentioned he intentionally delayed production because he wanted stock shares or something in a game, which apparently is something directors don't do.

Sorry but non of you guys have mentioned anything that counts as over spending got a video game, or nothing that other companies don't do.

I think it was the FoxEngine that cost too much, as they didn't use it for any other game except for the new Pro Evo

I think the whole thing was probably pretty simple. Konami wanted to make mobile games and Kojima didn't want to so Konami knew they had to get rid of him but they also knew there wasn't a way to without freaking out the internet. So in their attempt to remain sneaky they actually blew it up into what it is now because of all the secrecy.

Why I think on the side however is Kojima must have banged the ceos daughter or something, because the poor way they handled everything smells fishy

That's because it would be far more destructive to the gaming industry if Kojima has any skeletons in his closet. He's fortunate to have a loyal legion of fans and colleges and I'm sure he's a good guy, but there indeed have been cracks in the armor with folks who've worked with him like Jeremy Blaustein calling him an egomaniac and a diva.

I did something crazy and played the PS2 and PS3 versions of MGS2 today side-by-side today and reached a verdict that I'll probably never touch the HD version ever again. I was always leaning to the original because the PS3 version had many subtle yet annoying changes but after seeing it in person I noticed how inferior it is to the original. The HD version is not by any means a bad port and I would still recommend it if you have no other options but it will forever be locked away in the closet for me.

I had the opposite decision. I’ll never touch the non-HD versions after playing them with the crisp & clear graphics.

PS2 games aren't exactly the easiest to get running on a modern TV so no reason why you should, and the HD versions are cheap and easy to play. The originals still trumps the remasters in terms of graphics and content though.

If need any validation of what a self centered ass he is, look at how he threw Hayter away like garbage.

I'm curious what it is you found worse about the remaster.

The only thing I've noticed is in MGS3 intro video. The sound isn't synced to the music anymore, which is the point of the Bond style. It drives me up the wall!!

True, however he did put him directly in the game. And Hayter was featured on the anniversary party they threw years back

You better appreciate this list because I had to sit down and think, and I hate thinking!

- Gameplay is cropped rather than expanded horizontally, meaning the image will always be zoomed in.
- Graphics take on a "cooler" hue, colors do not match the original.
- Cutscenes are faster (although some would prefer this).
- Sound effects are different (such as the Scope and Nikita).
- Certain dialog are re-recorded and sound jarring.
- 5.1 mix is poor, with cutscene dialog coming from all 5 speakers with no dynamic range.
- Rain in tanker is toned down.
- 1st person camera effects are disproportionate and distorted (such as water streaks on the camera).
- Effects are mostly toned down or inaccurate (such as the mist when entering the ranker).
- Most, if not all visual effects are toned down in HD in some degree.
- Last name, DOB and blood type info are removed from the game.
- At least one typo in cutscenes.
- 2D art is stretched or blurred (such as the sexy posters).
- CODEC loads much slower than the original.
- CODEC volume is much lower than cutscene dialog volume.
- Water effects are incorrect or glitchy (most apparent in Strut D).
- Minor graphical glitches such as visible clipping when using the Coolant Spray.

It's obvious that NONE of these are game breaking so it shouldn't discourage you from enjoying the HD collection unless you want the PS2 version accurately translated to HD, so don't let these bother you.

Actually I just started playing MGS2 on the Vita from the HD Collection and I can confirm you do see insecys below Fortune and they spread out as she keeps walking. I never played the PS3 version but Id say for Vita some stuff you mentioned dorsnt apply. Strange because Vita is a inferior system, i would think they would cut corners here instead.

Having played through MGS2 more than any other game (I know it like the back of my hand), those differences would be too glaring for me to fully enjoy the remastered version. I have the HD Collection but I’ll stick to my PS2 copy, thanks.

Some issues on the Vita were fixed, most notably the CODEC now loads as fast as the PS2 version. Unfortunately all outdoor sections are capped at 30fps and the sniper rifle controls are horrendous. Still a fantastic port though, and I play the Vita version regularly.

It's subtle enough not to bother most people and for the longest time I would swore the HD version is the superior way to play but you're right, it's different enough to notice if you're too familiar with the PS2 version. I can live with inferior effects but stuff like cropped gameplay, wrong colors and changed dialogue really takes me out of the experience.
