His interview, where they talk about Robin, actually made me think it'd be hilarious if there was a story where an 8 year old Grayson spilled the beans at school and told everyone he was Batman's sidekick, and they reacted as you'd expect kids would: no one would believe them. Bruce gets called down to the principal's office because they're wondering why D!ck's making up all these stories, and he's pleased when he sees kids in the lunch room arguing about which of them is the "real" Robin.

But, yeah, Robin could totally work. Actually, I think he could work in service of a more sociopathic and dangerous Batman. I mean, imagine trying to get away with whatever shady **** you're doing when you realize Batman's after you. Now, imagine trying to stay focused on that and staying away from Batman, when an 8-year old in a brightly colored leotard just kicked your buddy's ass and is trash talking you. Robin is the greatest distraction ever.

Batman is just a complete neurotic anti-crime radical who would let a kid do dangerous stuff if the kid shared his thrist for justice and was motivated enough because he was a kid himself when daddy and mommy were killed.

Batman is such a funky ass character.

The 'realism' excuse doesn't fly when your company is also producing Popeye and Space Ghost, complete with Blip the monkey :wink1:

Agreed--I'm not an avid Batman reader at all but this is basically Robin in TDKR, and they've already started that line (wink wink)

I do think the stuff about accessory packs cheapening the brand or whatever was kind of some pretentious bull****. Pierre seems like a good guy, and I dig the fact that he was so hands on with that interview, but, if some of that stuff's the way Mezco views this line, it's no wonder that it isn't the rousing success it seemed primed to be in the beginning, from a fan's perspective. Like the dismissal of Robin because he wasn't realistic enough, or the criticisms of Wolverine's trunks being invalidated by the need to make it "realistic" because he wouldn't be "wearing a speedo in real life" (which, let's be honest; a rugged Canadian wilderperson wouldn't be caught dead wearing a multicolored jumpsuit of any sort, long trunks or not, in real life, unless he was a dude with a very specific fetish who liked to head into the city on the weekend and bathe in milk).:lol

What the....:lol :lol

This is all Mezco is showing at Toy Fair. There won't be any new reveals at the show; they do it all a week early. And based on Pierre's answers, this is all they're willing to show or talk about as far as Batman for now.

I agree with everyone else. This line turned out to be such a disappointment because the potential was through the roof. When the DKR Batman was unveiled at SDCC 2014 I thought I was looking at the future of my collection. I'd be willing to rebuy everything I've amassed all these years done in that scale, with those materials. Imagine....Wolverine looking like he was drawn by Art Adams. Storm Shadow and Snake Eyes in their orignal 80s outfits. A 6 inch Tattooine Luke Skywalker with cloth robes that don't look like complete dung like the Black Series.

And their next release was Judge Dredd. Fully 100% accurate. I don't like Dredd enough to buy him but he looked perfect.

And then it all fell apart from there.

I love Frank Miller. I'd buy a Daredevil that looked like his art on the book. Why the hell did the figure have giant shoulder pads sewed on? It's so frustrating.

And they're Iron Man reveal. Iron Man has had dozens, no, hundreds, of actual, official suits in the comics and movies. Instead of choosing just ONE of those....they make up their own? I liked it when Ashley Wood did it with threea, but these guys are not Ashley Wood. What out of control hubris.

Iron Man doesn't even fit into the concept of the line. He's simply a 6 inch Iron Man figure. That will cost roughly 4-5 times any other domestically available 6 inch Iron Man figure.

Look at the Mezco Mutant Leader compared to the Mattel Mutant Leader. Clearly, the Mezco one is nicer. But standing them side by side, a layman probably wouldn't even tell the difference. Was he really $60 nicer than the Mattel one cause he had pleathery pants and a little more weathering in his paint? I for one certainly didn't think so.

This new Iron Man doesn't even have pants.

As with all other aspects of collecting I'm voting with my dollars. There's a reason I haven't bought a One:12 since I scooped up three DKR Batman variants. I'm not spending that kind of money on figures that don't look good. Stupid pads and laces and pouches don't look good to me.

They're leaving money on the table for the dumbest reasons...."Wolverine wouldn't wear a speedo." Well, at least Hasbro gave us a very very good Wolverine last year. Looks like they get to keep getting my money.

/\ Epic post is epic. /\

Agreed, I have never heard such ****. Maybe they really mean, well Robin he/she would require a new buck that we cannot be assed with right now ( Sad news for teen titans and legionnaires ). Or for some reason they just can't make him-copyright/license.

Otomofan should be in charge of the line. If he was, I'd buy more than just TDKR Batman.

Entire toy industry is all kinds of ****ed up isn't it. :lol

This might be the first year where I don't get any of the hints they show at Toy Fair.

We need another 1/12 TDK Bale.

Wat, SH figuarts just revealed ****y Batman.

Mmm mmm, look at dem tiddays and those child bearing hips.

I saw the interview, and I understand their logic in regards to focusing on the current films.

Reeve Sups, Adam West show, 89 Bats, TDK, have all stood the test of time. They will always be popular and new merchandise will sell. And if they say they can wait several years, then clearly it means they know they won't lose the license.

Suicide Squad and BVS? Not so much. Those are just flavor of the month costumes and characters...until JL or the next DCEU film...if they even make more films. So yeah, there's a time limit for those specific versions of those characters since their popularity hasn't been proven yet.

Sorry bro, but you're missing the point. As long as the dog (Mez) is chasing its tail (movie licenses), they'll never have an opportunity to release these other licenses that have stood the test of time. At best, it'll be years before we get multiple figures of just one of those lines. Hell, it's been years already since they announced having the Keaton license and they haven't even previewed one figure yet :huh

Take a look at Hot Toys, they're a bigger company than Mezco and they have their hands full keeping up with their movie releases. So much so, they've all but abandoned any of the lines that made them the company they are today.

I get why they have to strike while the iron is hot. But like I said, with the sheer volume of movies being produced and clearly Mez can't get out 4 figures for one of the biggest movies they've tackled, the other lines will suffer if not wither all together.

They have, actually.

mezco-batman-returns-batmobile.jpg

That and a Returns pack with Batman, Penguin and Catwoman. Maybe that's all we'll ever have.

Yeah, and their little Mez Itz 89 Batmobile has been "coming soon" for like 3 years.
