I am willing to go into this with an open mind. I was a crazy die hard turtles fan as a kid. I love the original movie, the second was a fun ride. I thought Turtles in Time was crap. The CGI TMNT was a great step back in the right direction. At the end of the day I am just glad to see some love being thrown their way. Haven't caught any of the new Nick turtles yet but I am gonna check them out.

If nothing else, this movie has got me into TMNT a little bit. Gonna snag the OG DVD sets off Amazon and get my 5 year old turned on to it.

What is wrong with being different? I understand that fans want these guys to be the splitting image of their comic/cartoon looks but they're not! GOOD!

If you want the other Turtle designs, you have three movies to rewatch and even a horrible live action show where oh no! Their mask designs and costumes were slightly different too!

The Turtles look great and the designs not only respect the traditions of the characters but also reflect their personalities. If you can't see that, then I'm sorry...you're all being dense. I don't see people complaining about the Transformers designs anymore and those characters have changed their looks MUCH MORE than any other nostalgic 80's characters.

Just be happy that the Turtles are getting attention and that we are getting LOTS of different interpretations of them. Nick has a very successful show going on, there's a movie coming out and who knows? Maybe IT WILL SURPRISE YOU AND BE GOOD. Kind of like how "Transformers" turned out to be a solid flick.

And if it turns out to be ****, the collateral damage could send them away again, for another decade.

He's right. If it sucks beyond reason then what's to say people won't take the turtles seriously anymore. What if they incorporate these designs in future toons? A lot could happen.

It's a shame that the current generation of kids who are growing up with the new cartoon are about to have their turtles Bayified. Whether that's a good or bad thing remains to be seen.

Yeah WTF man this is Sirious **** man! ;)

Are they going again the black brothers route with the turtles in this movie?
I dont really know the original material but i seem to remember they were street, rappin and **** in the original movie.
Here with the lips and all they look even more ethnic turtle gangstas.

You had me up until this part. . .

In my opinion, Bay has totally earned the disdain he receives from the geek community. He turned Transformers--one of my favorite childhood cartoons and toy lines--into a garbage movie franchise in nearly every sense of the word. Movies that don't have compelling action, or story, or characters, or humor. The character designs are the worst, he goes with the lowest common denominator appeal of explosions, busty women in skimpy clothing, and racial stereotypes to keep the appeal of kids with short attention spans I guess. Chances are, he'll do the same here. And folks probably just don't complain about his TF designs much anymore because they have done so much since 2007 that there isn't much more to say. I'm going to treat this movie with HEAVY skepticism until and unless he proves me wrong.

The best thing this movie has going for it is that Bay is producing and not directing himself (instead some other director who hasn't made anything noteworthy is), but he will be making important decisions and totally does not "get it" in the way that I do. Things change and evolve, and so should stories about characters we used to know as kids. But the essence still has to be there, and be treated with some respect. I don't think Bay knows or cares about these kinds of concerns. And more importantly, at the end of the day, these movies have to be good. So, based on his track record, I can pretty much guess it's going to suck, and I'm certainly not going to bother watching it at the theaters.

Does this mean that all the TMNT stuff of the past was great? No. Much of it was also horrible. Even the cartoons that many of us used to love are pretty bad. But that doesn't mean I have to like someone else coming along and stinking up the franchise with more garbage that doesn't understand what it was about the original franchise that we cared about.

I'm just hoping that this new film will prompt HT to consider making 1/6 versions of the original 1990 film Turtles. :rock

If that happens, Bay at least.. gets one thumbs up in dogecoin from me. :lol

I blame the kids of today for the current trend in movie appeal of what's cool to like. Do kids make the movies or do movies make the kids? :panic:

That would be a dream display right there.:rock

Is it the designs that concern you or that the movie can be crap? What's worries you more?

The stakeholders have far more to lose than gain. A good movie equates to more attention which equals more profit and MONEY!

Also, I like to use G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra as an example of how to do a successful 80's toy line/cartoon movie wrong. It turned into a disaster and you see how Hasbro almost did a 180 with Retaliation. But the damage was already done. They tried to portray ROC as a toy commercial for their figures and vehicles and it bungled everything both as a movie and a toyline. Hasbro even made a "sequel" toy line called Pursuit of COBRA where they went back to the more militaristic designs that fans know and love. They struggled with the sequel and even delayed it to try and touch it up a bit. Was Retaliation a great success? No. But it was closer to GI Joe's roots and away from the Power Ranger spoof that was ROC. I'm sure the crew of the TMNT movie are well aware of how things go wrong.

It's the designs, the fact Bay is attached, the fact that they are intentionally pushing back a trailer and toy reveals so it doesn't interfere with Transformers. Shredder is a white man, Megan Fox can't act for her life. They are ninjas not samurai, do you know the differance? How can a ninja sneak around or do a flip or high kick in jeans and a proton pack? The only turtles that dress this stupid are action figure gimmick variants. Bay just wanted an excuse for all 4 to have a foot long dangly thing between their legs. Mike's jeans, Raph's loin cloth etc. ***** jokes already. Raphs clearly the weightlifting token black guy. Learned their lessons? Is that why they are still making Transformers 4 that looks the same if not far worse than the originals.

Or is it the director who inspires confidence with his resume of horrible soulless garbage?

2012 Wrath of the Titans

2011 Battle Los Angeles

2009 The Killing Room

2006 The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning

Using GI Joe or Transformers as a positive is the saddest arguement ever.

I thought Retaliation was far worse. And I love The Rock as well as the ninja clan subplot in Gi Joe. But I despised Retaliation.

Thought many people really enjoyed Battle: LA.

I know I did. If he can come close to some of the heart I thought that film had I'd be happy. The least interesting thing in that film to me was the aliens because I thought Harvey Dent and how he earned the respect of those troops was done well.
