I just dont understand Leo's bamboo armor. For a while now his shell served as armor. It looks so damn silly. If anybody has played final fantasy shredder looks like he walked straight from a final fantasy game. I also stated this before but I hate, HATE full bandanna's on the turtles and in this case raph has sort of a du rag that reminds of that **** next mutation cartoon.

I honestly think the reason why these people arent showing much of this movie and keep dismissing any question asked about is is because they are ashamed of this movie and they know they most likely ****ed up. "they keep saying "O yea we are proud of it and we think it looks good". The designs arent terrible but will the movie in itself be good? I dont know. I mean The whole Mikey with track pants think is ****ing stupid, im sorry but the turtles always looked better with nothing on. (insert weird turtle joke here). Everytime they put usless crap on the turtles it looked stupid and turned into a disaster. Fast forward is a good example.

This is precisely what I'm talking about. If I made a post like this in the ASM2 or DoFP threads, you, Nova, Webhead, pturtle and OSCORP would go on long rants about how I shouldn't even be in that thread since I'm continually posting only hateful posts about movie that's not even out yet and what a big ****ing troll I am, only stirring up others, whom you guys claim are my followers :)rotfl), to rant about it too. :lol

Yup, early ninja art but that doesn't support historical stories that ninja used those outfits.

For example, the one with the ninja climbing the rope is from 1817, well into Japan's Edo period during the Tokugawa shogunate when ninja had already begun to fade into obscurity and were popularized in theater....in their black outfits.

The guy with the afro and leaping with a letter in his mouth is Goemon Ishikawa. A folk hero and Japanese Robin Hood who was actually a thief and outlaw and never a ninja, but popular culture regards him as one. He became a popular character in Kabuki plays around the 1700's almost 200 years after his death. He is often dressed in black to emphasize his stealthiness as a bandit.

Ninjas' Golden Age was during the Sengoku period, the Japanese Civil War also known as the Warring States. The artwork comes from decades later during the relative peaceful times of the Tokugawa when ninja became popular cultural characters and were depicted as so.

Yup the armor does look black but it's around 500 years old. Any color would have worn away regarding the shape that it is in. Also, it's just one piece...it doesn't justify that all ninja armor was black like this.

Regardless of all the debate you guys are having about ninjas and samurais etc. I really don't think the film designers went through that much thought process. It was probably more of a case of 'what do cool people wear...sunglasses. Right we give Mikey some because he's the cool one!' :lol

:rotfl:rotfl

Where did the arguement about black outfits originate anyway. He made it back as a point to me, but I never brought up color to begin with. :lol

Just illustrating that I know the difference between samurai and ninja when you brought that question up to me. :rock

I agree. And considering the franchise here, I don't think anyone will get too riled up because the creators are taking liberties with historical details. I personally have two basic concerns for this film:

1) Will it suck?
2) Will it maintain some of what really made us care about the Turtles to begin with?

Same as my concerns with Transformers (which I feel fails on both measures) and GI Joe (which I feel fails on both measures). Considering who is involved, I'm not very optimistic on either front for this franchise, either. But having said that, I'm sure it will make 500 million dollars and breed a crappy franchise of movies that 12 year olds will flock to see.

Give those 12 year olds more credit. The Nick show was renewed for a 3rd season before the first finished and the toys are the reason we adults are getting the classics line. I think that most kids who would be into this are already into the Nick show which is a very good thing. In fact, I honestly do believe alot of kids will see this and scratch their heads at these versions like we are.

Well I'm sure there are some 12 year olds with taste. But damn if I can figure out who else is paying money to see garbage like Transformers 3 or 4 at the theaters.

If it's one thing the Japanese are notorious for, it's maintaining tradition. Based on that alone, I think it's safe to assume, since they've been painting ninja in black for over a few hundred years, the ninja wore black. That might not be ALL they wore, but it was certainly an, if not the, identifying color.

Which is exactly how TEENAGERS think! :lol

And that may or may not apply to these versions. The latest official banner that debuted the Turtles simply reads "Ninja Turtles". Given the rumor from shooting that this would be a name change, it may have very well happened. Especially to set itself apart from the Nick TMNT which will also be in the toy aisle next to these and already have a jump on sales. Bay's movie studio wouldn't want you to accidentaly give your action figure money to the other Turtles.

I hope it doesn't though, that teenager part made it ok for them to be silly.

What are they gonna be now? Man-child Alien Ninja Turtles?

O shut up with that. Its not like im saying "DUR hur Man this movie sucks *** dude". Im criticizing the designs not the movie itself. Even you said it yourself the design look rather silly. I keep saying im going to wait for a trailer before I make my final judgements. You however go on the Spidey forum and talk about how raimi is superior and how much of a ****** peter is and how bad everything is. Then if sombody doesnt agree you call troll and rant and rave. Calling people fanboys and such.

Btw this movie has more of a chance of being bad than ASM is. Everything for the ASM2 has been positive but everything for this movie has people wary.

Normally I would say "as long as it doesn't get personal it's fine", but calling Peter's character as played by Garfield a "******" tends to affect people personally anyhow. Sometimes these threads come off as mindless brand support, so a little salt is needed to break up the sugary excess of sheer fangasm. Besides, it's down to only a few salt shakers you can't stand, that's not half bad. :lol

Once again you prove to be 100% hypocritical. I've never been on the "Spidey Forum." If there is one just dedicated to Spider-Man, with ASM out, that's the LAST place I'd go as I simply don't have enough cash to donate for all the tampons they'd need after reading my posts. And I don't praise Raimi (that was Celtic). What I've said is I haven't seen anything, save for the CG Spider-Man (OMG a positive remark?!?!?!), that's bested the Raimi films like you guys keep claiming. I discuss the film pointing out the garbage I see. You little hens then circle around me and troll my post like I took a dump on your mother's fine China. :lol

Hell, for proof, look at the post I made about seeing the trailer before the LEGO Movie. There wasn't anything personal in it, I didn't quote anybody from the buttbuddy bunch, but everybody went fullblown tittybaby over it.

I can't blame Bay for the way the turtles look.

If you want to get mad at something, get mad at the way music and tv are made for children. Everyone nowdays is a fan of Jay Z or Lil Wayne, so of course the turtles are going to get the new "Cool Hip" treatment.
Is that simple. They are going by what kids will like the most. And kids like all that crap they have on :lol:lol

I think that just goes to show how dumb he and the studio are. Historically, has giving a movie like this the "hip-hop" treatment ever been successful? :dunno
