I'm all for creative freedom, but sticking to the origins of the property can only "strengthen" a project, in my opinion. Plus, is artistic integrity not sacred anymore? Or is everyone and everything a sell out?

Sure, the closer it is, the more authentic. But that doesn't sell jack. Money is everything. Most films today are cynical. It's sad, but true.

Hollywood doesn't care about you. They don't care if you enjoyed the film. They just care about the cash you forked down to watch their product. That's what all Hollywood blockbusters are. Products.

Some are very good products because they are made by people who care. Like The Avengers and BB, TDK, TDKR...ect.

But I bet the Alien angle has changed.

Even I believe you can balance artistic integrity with selling a product. It's called not producing garbage. Authentic is better. Build upon that and make it as good as you can from there. I mean good grief, the original source material for a lot of stuff is a goddamn schematic for awesome, why not follow it?

Granted, there are times where things are changed and it's worked about, but it often doesn't. Making Turtles into aliens doesn't work. Drastic changes like that almost completely alter the source material. It happens all the time sadly. But like I said... "sometimes" it works.

No dude you act like every single kid is stupid and will just blindly follow toward whatever hollywood gives them. no not the case becuase some times it comes off as corny and irritting when holywood tries to appeal to teens. People saw transformers becuase its a fun ass summer movie and becuase its transformers. bay got the premise of the transformers right. Fighting robots. Battleship bombed at the box office becuase the people saw it was just some dumb action movie that had a popular name slapped onto it. So if you do somthing like make the tmnt into aliens im pretty sure teens and adults alike will hate it and it will bomb. becuase no matter what you say every stupid teen in the world knows the origin of tmnt and no the exact premise since they were born in the 90s with these cartoons. Same with the kids. A new show is coming out in 2012 that doesnt change a thing about the tmnt origin so im pretty sure a movie that comes out two years later with a complete change will throw people off.

Hell if hollywood really wanted to apeal to the teens they would of made batman some gothic poem writing outsider or have the avengers fight loki with a dance number imitating step up.

this is exactly why even if they are aliens it will sell 200 million at the box office, maybe even more,

even if people hate it,

Michael Bay Ends The Ninja Turtle “Merry-Go-Round”

I promised myself I wouldn’t elongate the original story any more with a third update, so I thought I’d swing by the site this Saturday morning and let Mr. Michael Bay defend his Platinum Dunes from me and ‘The Blue Door:’

Ok, Mr. Bay, I get it: You didn’t do any work on this Paramount-sanctioned draft of Inter-Dimensional Turtles. It might be bad, but it’s not Platinum Dunes’ concern because it was a script you rightly “shredded.”

Everything I’ve been saying about how the current draft is being written and now is the time to make our discontent known seems to be working out, because Shoot For The Edit’s forums have brought the man himself down to pat his children once more on the head, telling us to chill.

I plead ignorance to the details of Bay’s deal, but still say two things:

1. The leaked script that appeared very briefly on the internet had a 2012 date: not last year, but this year. But maybe Bay is right and this script wasn’t for Platinum Dunes but instead for Paramount, which makes me wonder:

2. Why was Michael Bay going around telling people that his Turtles were “alien” if ‘The Blue Door’ wasn’t the movie they were making? IS THERE ANOTHER ALIEN TURTLE SCRIPT?!?!?!? There must be, which means aliens aren’t off the table, which means I’m glad we’re all being fly-in-Bay-ointment at the moment.

Mr. Bay – I liked all 3 ‘Transformers’ films. I’m consistently mocked for it but ‘Dark of the Moon’ was the paramount of visual spectacle for the sake of it and I was 100% on board. You’re a director with vision, and even when I don’t agree with that vision, I can enjoy your movies.

We’re just people who like the Turtles telling you we didn’t like that thing I’m pretty sure you were going to do to the Turtles. Just don’t do it, please? It’s not like we’re going away. We, the fan audience, obviously can read dates on things and remember those things for longer than a year.

Its cool,though, bro. We’re all chill over here.
