There's no need to compare MJ to Elvis and the Beatles,
each had an overwhelming influence in music history, and nothing will change that...
Michael Jackson was the best at what he did...
he's the icon of a generation and changed the way music and performance
was perceived...
I still can't believe he's gone... :monkey2

look at it this way jackson was a single artist right,so was elvis.worldwide jacko was bigger.the beatles were a band, john lennon was the most famous of them,he was sadly murdered but the death of mj has had more of a response from the people of the world.elvis, the beatles and mj were artists the likes of we will never see again, true artists.real talented musicians not like the crap we have today, the britneys and timberlakes of this world.only the stones are left right.lets at least agree on that.....

There are rumors of a tribute with some felow artists that might include Madonna, Stevie Wonder, and more, they would perform the show planned for the O2, with all the musicians and backup dancers...
Not the same but... at least it would be a great way to say goodbye...
Also, there are rumors of a full costume/music/choreography rehearsal taped on Tuesday... I hope it is released eventually...

My wife and I were talking about this today. I told her about the article posted earlier in this thread, about Michael and the video store.

In the past few years, all you saw of Michael in the media was the bad stuff, or the freaky stuff. You had to actively search out the "old" Michael, and I never did aside from listening to his music on my iPod. Now that he is gone, you see pictures and video of the 80's Michael everywhere. And that is what makes me feel bad, because I am remembering how much I liked him. I lost the memories of what was great about him until he died. It's a shame all that was buried by the bad stuff of recent years.

Yeah the true magic of MJ has been dead for many years now.(and true magic it was) The man was a god when he first hit the scene solo. I kinda feel sorry for those born mid 80's or so that didn't get to enjoy him at the time when he was on top! It was truly special- and unforgettable.

I was 80s kid too! I was also into some weird music ( Depeche Mode, Poesie Noire, Camouflage, Anything Box) just to name a few. But I was never really into anything as weird as MJ's music, maybe a little when I was five or six or something. Never owned any of his music either.

I use to remember hearing some kids talking about seeing him in concert when I was in the 4th grade (which had to be around 1988 or something) Some of the other kids over heard and started saying "ahh man you like Michale Jackson, he's weird!" or "that music suck's!" And I guess I kinda identified with those belief's, at the time. I still think his style was bizarre. But I do like a few of his songs now, Beat it, Billy Jean, and one other that I can't think of right now, it'll come to me later. :lol

I don't think he was a musical god, how could you say that when talking about pop music? Any way he had some talent, just not my style!

He IS a musical god... maybe you weren't exposed to his best work?...
I love Thriller as an Album, but I honestly think he has better/edgier songs, specially during Dangerous/HIStory era...

Great video Krayt!:rock!!

I was 15 when Thriller came out. Could've cared less.
I was listening to Black Flag, Fear and Discharge.
So... like you, I can see the talent and I also like a few of his songs but just SO not my thing. :dunno

I go to give you props for DM..they are definitely a favorite of mine, so many good songs.

Sad news. Was a huge fan of his as a kid....then in my later years, not so much. Things unfortunately got very weird for him...and whether all the allegations were true or not, we will never know. Still is shocking that he died so suddenly. I just picked up his number one hits not too long ago....Dirty Diana was always one of my favorites of his.
I hope that someone responsible and loving steps in and takes care of his children. Those kids are who I am most concerned about. hopefully now they can lead a somewhat normal life.

Dirty Diana :rock Definitely one of my favorites from Michael as well.
