Has there been any evidence leaked that he knew what was going on? And not just "eye witnesses" either; people lie all the time, so some kind of physical evidence. And just in case anyone is getting the wrong idea, I'm not standing up for the man or believe he is innocent of all wrong doing, I just want to believe that in today's America we are still innocent until proven guilty, but I guess that just isn't the case anymore.

I just hope I'm never accused of a serious crime...

I don't think anyone here is saying he does not deserve a trial. I ma just saying that there is no way he didn't know. Is it possible that his cousin may have had a fight or two there w/o him knowing? Sure. If htey had found a dog or two and a small ring and a kennel or two then MAYBE Vick didn't know what was going on, BUT this was a HUGE ring of people with large betting going on. 50-60 dogs found on the property. Drowning, shooting and hanging of surviving dogs that "lost" their fights.

Do you honestly believe that something of this size was going on w/o Vick at least knowing about it?

Does he deserve a trial? Yes. In my opinion is her 100% guilty? Yes.

ESPN is reporting that there is an effort to work a behind the scenes deal which would see Vick take some type of voluntary leave from the game until all his legal problems are sorted out. He would be paid in full. Sounds like a reward to me.

There are two issues here which are independent of each other. The league has standards of behavior that they have a right to enforce. If they investigate and conclude that Vick did these things then they can suspend him or ban him. The law, criminal activity, trials, and his rights under the law are a whole different ball of wax.

...Long version is that celebs/players get off easy on all of this kind of crap and as a Joe Public citizen I am more that sick of it...

This is true but some celebs and althetes also get targeted and screwed with by law enforcement because of their status as well.

...Could someone identify the number of current NFL players who have criminal records...

In terms of the overall percentage I doubt it's actually very high you just hear about it when something happens. After all there are over 2000 players in the NFL. I don't have any actual numbers but just going off the top of my head I would bet the percentage is about 1-3%.

Duke Lacrosse team comes to mind.

True, but this one is a little different. This isn't just some 2 bit legal blowhard trying to make a name for himself by bringing up this huge trial. This is the Federal Government and they don't indite people unless they have some very solid evidence and they don't lose many of these cases. If they are bringing up something against you there is a pretty solid chance you are guilty of something.

Keep in mind as well the federal courts have a 95% conviction rating. They would not have indicted him for nothing. They will soon announce his leave of absence. Mark my words: Mike Vick will not play football this season. It will not happen. Monkeys will fly out of my arsh before that.

Emmit smith and iverson are now coming to his defense and claiming

"that he is being squeezed"

Ok, I didnt read the whole thing but lets hold judgement until all the facts are out. Lets not have a Duke Lacross situation again, most everyone in the general public was like they are guilty and they whole team Duke team lost their season and what happened, they were all cleared and ohh yeah didnt the DA get disbarred and is facing criminal charges?

So like I said let the justice system play out.

PS Who gives a *****k what all these dam PETA people think they are a bunch of criminals anyways.

You're right. Let the legal system do its thing. It's not like having money can buy your way out of anything. Maybe they've got one of the gloves that they used for handling the dogs-- let Vick try it on... If the glove don't fit-- you MUST acquit.:D

Leave of absence from the game WITHOUT a salary.

I read somewhere they had around a 95% conviction rate.

Looks like I was right. There is no way he will be on that field. Looks like the Falcons have themselfs a new QB by the name of Harrington. I don't think that's a bad thing for the team either.

One of the few definite things we know is that cruelty to animals generally leads to later criminal behavior. If someone like this can 'glamorize' this behavior, which simply because he is a sports celebrity whom many kids look up to, it can encourage those young kids to follow the example. The NFL needs to realize that if the players will not step up to the plate and behave on their own, then the league should demand it of them.
These players get to reap the benefits of being an example to millions, then they should face the consequences of being a bad example.

Vick checked himself into jail today. How long do you guys think he will be in for? Place your bets!
