the right thing is not simply always: returning stuff.
I think it would be stupid to return it if there was a legal ground to be found that I am actually the new owner...

WOW... I don't recognize your user handle so I don't know what you've been posting on here and I've only read the first page of so far 10 and I don't have the time or inclination to read all of it (I'll prob succumb later ) but for you to argue about Belgian law and whathaveyou...

The seller made a mistake, the difference between right and wrong is CLEAR: you should contact the seller and tell him that he sent the same figure twice and it's up to the seller to decide if he wants to pay the shipping to get the figure back.

Beren is disgusted that you can even raise this as a question and make it a legal issue. There's law and there's justice and it's obvious where you like to stand for personal gain. And you possibly want our support.

I recently bought something on eBay, the item didn't arrive. The seller had 100% feedback and he swore he sent it and based on his feedback I had no reason not to believe him. I suggested that we split the loss so he refunded me half of what I paid. 2 MONTHS later the item arrived! And you know what I did? I sent him his refund back!

As I stated the responses you have given so far have shown the character you have as a buyer, the legal side of things you mentioned simply added to that.
At the end of the day if you were such an honest person and you received 2 figs, 1 by mistake then you wouldnt even have started this thread, you would have emailed the seller immediately saying that you have received 2 and yet you only paid for 1.

Yes the seller sent you it in error and yes they should pay for the shipping back.
Your 'legal background' has nothing to do with the morals and integrity of an individual

doesn't matter if you opened your mouth to the world, just the guy that sent two figures. the difference between right and wrong is clear. contact the seller and tell him you got two. you may be very surprised at the outcome. he may just say keep the second one. honesty is the best policy always.

You state you want to keep this figure and the guy from Hong Kong cannot prove it is his, after all he's in HK and you're in Belgium right?.
You want to keep it but will check with your friend who knows the law-which makes me wonder where was your 'law background' when in your first post you stated you would check with a friend to see if legally you could keep it.
You dont like peoples responses and reply to them with name calling and attitude.
You then state you will contact the seller so now you are doing the right thing, you say this AFTER you have had reactions from people on this board and you cannot understand why people think you are dishonest?
