You wonder why people are simply questioning your motives when you start a thread saying a seller has made a mistake and sent you 2 items instead of 1, you state you know your 'legal' position in Belgium is 'whats mine is mine' type of thing, then you wonder why people are questioning you with the responses you have been giving to this thread YOU started.

How hell can a seller 'sell you an item without you asking for it?'.
It was a mistake plain and simple, that item should obviously not have been sent to you and come on here gloating that you have the 'legal right' to keep it.Then you get all upset when people question your ethics on a public forum when YOU asked for advice in the first place.

Eventually yes you have said you have emailed the seller(which Im not sure I believe now anyway), which is imo the right thing to do but the fact you came on here stating its yours because he sent you it shows how 'honest' you really are

Oh and I didnt want your eBay ID so I could look at your feedback, I wanted to add to my blocked bidders list *******!!

riko, you really have yourself to blame by opening up this can of worms. asking whether you should be honest or steal probably wasn't the best way to enter this board. i would recommend a public apology and drop the subject. good luck.

Yeah but why would you make a thread asking for the legal loopholes to be able to keep 2? If youre going to keep it, keep your own hands dirty, dont expect others to get dirty with you.

Hi,

I need your help y'all

so I bought this figure on ebay from someone in Hong Kong, and it was shipped to Belgium.
2-3days later, the mailman arrived with...the same figure....

My name was on the box, so it was clearly a mistake of the seller.
so I bought 1 figure and now I got 2 figures!

What should I do?

I know (according to Belgian law) that who has the actuall posession of a item, is automaticaly seen as the rightful owner of the item. Unless of course the party who claimes to be the real owner, can actually prove he is the owner...

But what must I do in this case?
has the seller have any ground to prove he is the owner?

You admitted he sent it to you by mistake and you suggest he needs to PROVE ownership.
I don't know what bothers me more, the idea that you have no concept of right and wrong or that, apparently, neither do the friends you asked.
You are offended because people are responding negatively to the idea of you taking advantage of someone's mistake.
You can't understand why people are stunned that your first reaction wasn't doing whats right, but rather what's legal.
The fact that he lives in HK and you live in Belgium has nothing to do right and wrong.
Your actions and attitudes label you as dishonest.
Try putting yourself in his position. Wouldn't you hope that person would be honest?

if he wants to be accepted here, he really shouldn't be name calling or bashing someone's opinion that he asked for when starting the thread. as far as whether it's stealing, don't ask me, ask god.

if you get too much change at the store, do you take it or tell the cashier? if you find a satchel full of money, do you keep it or tell the authorities? reference the movie, 'no country for old men' to find the answer to that one.
