how is the quality of the 3rd batch anyhow? still leaking oil I assume?

It's a lot better than batches 1 and 2 but it's still a hit or a miss getting one that wont:

1, The possibility of little moist parts showing on arrival.
2, Damp parts showing 6 - 12 months later.

It's a pure gamble.

Nothing is glistening though.

Partially. Only the warped heads and suit paint peeling came from those that were in the small run of batch 1. From those that bought it in Hong Kong. Or those that chose to buy it more expensively.

The leaking biceps and abs started from batch 1 and still followed through to batch 3. To a lesser degree but it still exists.

To say it's defect free, you're having a laugh.

Lol so you are saying that if you buy from hong kong even now or if you buy it expensively, you might get the same issues as a "batch 1"?

yeah, but he said something very specific: those who buy from hong kong...now I wanna know what he meant with that since I bought from HK

Did he mean those are safe (leaks can happen always) or did he mean that if you buy from HK you take an extra risk for paint peel and warping?

I would think buying from Hong Kong is riskier on multiple levels. For starters, once you buy it you can't really return it without spending $50 on shipping it back -- that's a big loss on a figure you're not going to keep. Secondly, I just don't trust any of the sellers from HK. And lastly, the DC Direct batch was a US batch, it just seems logistically less likely that, whatever sellers in HK are saying, they have figures from that batch.

The bulk of the problem figures came from the first two HK releases (batches 1 & 2). So yeah you're probably taking a greater risk ordering from HK.

weltmaster: batch 1 is history, as is batch 2, finished, nadda, kaput, unless someone is trying to flog it used because of the problems. Only whatever shops that has any left would be selling from the remaining stock that is left from the 3rd run. Which is still a gamble to take one at silly prices.

Great if it doesn't ever ooze. A right stinker if it seeps after all that money. Is it worth the risk? regardless how cool the figure looks.

My only fear is that the ones still floating around on ebay are the leaky dregs that they weren't able to unload before the third batch was released. At that price I sure hope it's not leaking though.

Or they dry and clean up the wet parts, or add a carefully cut up plastic divider behind the belt. You know how people are really honest on the tinternet.

Or photoshop the photos. People never do bad things.

i just wanna say that i bought mine off a board member here , probably a month after they got released , it had the leaking problem and it was told to me before i bought it ( i didn't care , i just wanted the figure bad) . Now its 8 months later or so and the figure has completly stopped leaking , nothing nada , no sign at all , i think everyone just wanted a perfect figure . i personally didn't care if it leaked and guess what it stopped




so hopefully yours will stop the leakage too

Yeah the second one I bought from HK stopped leaking about three months ago. All the paint was gone from the spots that leaked, but I just repainted it. I know some haven't been so lucky though.

lol leaking isnt an issue if its stops after a while and as long as the figure itself isnt deforming or breaking apart in any way from the leaking

I just hope I dont encounter the real big issues out of the box such as:
- paint peeling
- glue spots
- my worst nightmare: warping


edit, just saw your post, so leaking can cause paint to peel of, damn

To my knowledge all that was fixed before the second batch was released. Which I believe was why there was a second batch, to fix those problems.

Edit: Glue spots and leaking oil I'm pretty sure have been the only constant issues.

I've got one from each batch - 3 total, 1st batch still leaks but I had the warped heads replaced, 2nd batch still leaks but I'm using it in my armoury dio so not a big deal

3rd one has been put to the sword by Seb and I can't wait to get him back
