Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics
It is and one of the reasons I feel there should be tighter restrictions in the F/S threads. It's almost disgraceful that a member of such a small community would screw over another member so blatantly. You're not even a ********* (at least from what I've seen) which makes it all the more appalling.
The problem is, no amount of restrictions is going to stop douchebags from being douchebags. They can creep into any system - so at some point, you lose more than you gain.
The only realistic thing SSF could do to make douchebaggery less likely is if they were actively involved in the sale - i.e., holding payments, getting involved in credit transfers and transactions, and arbitrating disputes. Obviously they don't want to do that, since that would make them liable (and give them a bunch of extra work). And at that point, this place becomes redundant, as it'd be no different than Amazon or Ebay.
That this happened is really appalling to me - all the more so because it seems so unnecessary. Assuming the seller got a non-DCDirect batch for around retail, he'd probably be able to unload it on Ebay or somewhere for at least around that price. Not the increased price of the DCDirect batch, so he wouldn't make a profit, but I could see him breaking even. So if that's the case, then he clearly just took advantage of axecutioner's vulnerable geographic location to make some extra bucks.
(Of course, he might have originally bought it at an inflated price - but even so, he should've just cut his losses and sold it at a lower price with full disclosure. Maybe he'd lose a little money, but it's not like thousands of dollars or anything - surely an amount he could swallow, given it was his own fault)
If he's a prolific seller, I think he'll find the short-term gain won't be worth the long-term loss in sales and reputation here. Let's just hope he wasn't planning on packing up and leaving anyway - otherwise, he'd really have nothing to lose by screwing axecutioner.
