Re: Hot Toys - MMS152 - Superman: 1/6th scale Superman Collectible Figure

As a massive Christopher Reeve fan, when Man of Steel was announced I was fuming. I understand a rebrand and the costume change to match the DC universe change 2 years ago. But no Superman theme??! WTF??

But...

Seeing the trailers I have changed my mind, it looks very good, could be amazing!!

After I seen an early trailer I thought 'I've got to see this!'. Also, when you've got names like Zack Snyder, Chris Nolan and Hans Zimmer attached, it shouldn't be anything less than amazing!

Re: Hot Toys - MMS152 - Superman: 1/6th scale Superman Collectible Figure

I only trust Nolan and Zimmer... hopefully Snyder will make this good and not so shallow and overtly "male-minded."

Re: Hot Toys - MMS152 - Superman: 1/6th scale Superman Collectible Figure

Imagine if Nolan and Zimmer had done the first one with Donner! Ooooooo! That makes me salivate.

Those with Reeve. And no salkind brothers butting in.

Those are some awesome shots. Where are you finding all these vodoun? That top one in particular with all the predators is awesome. Everything looks so good.

I usually hang in a lot of groups on flickr. There's some fabulous toy photography from Wall-E to Lego to all ranges of figures.

Like for example...

WOW!!! WOW!!!! WOW!!!!!

Just collected Superman from the post office and I'm blown away!!

I feared the MMS series were gonna be less detailed and cheaper looking, but no way! It's breathtaking. An amazing tribute to the late, great Christopher Reeve.

Congrats rickrooster. It really is a great tribute figure to the man that brought Superman to life on the big screen for us all. One of my favorites. :hi5:

Re: Hot Toys - MMS152 - Superman: 1/6th scale Superman Collectible Figure

It is unbelievable! Some of the videos I'd watched made him look quite pale, but the skin tone and the slight wrinkles on his forehead, even the shape of his ears and that unmistakable nose, is bang on!

Re: Hot Toys - MMS152 - Superman: 1/6th scale Superman Collectible Figure

I think the biggest problem is what a lot of sculptors seems to have issues with, the back of the head often extends too far back, much further from the ears than it should be. There are many sculpts that feature this kind of skull elongation. Look at some of your sculpts from above sometime to see what I mean.

Along with original Star Wars Stormtroopers, this figure has the most nostalgia for me. It's amazing in fact, almost the same kind of nostalgia as that of a vintage toy from the period, even though this guy is brand new.

The CR Superman (and HT Indiana Jones) made many of us feel HT should re-think it's use of the PERs eyes. Superman was perfect while Indy was a huge letdown.

HT has done better with it's last few DXs but I have no regrets about Supes being part of the MMS line.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS152 - Superman: 1/6th scale Superman Collectible Figure

From looking at the PERS system in-hand, I honestly can't see why it would compromise the quality nor likeness of a head sculpt. I think other factors are to blame for such issues.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS152 - Superman: 1/6th scale Superman Collectible Figure

Yeah I kinda see what you mean about the pers. although the 2 I have with it, the Keaton Batman and Nicholson Joker, both really suit it, and the seams don't bother me at all. But the pics and videos I've seen of Indy the pers doesn't work on it. Which is such a shame, cos I love Indiana Jones.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS152 - Superman: 1/6th scale Superman Collectible Figure

Some figures has done PERS very well and others are just awful. Indy had a bad sculpt and it's eyes were set in too deep, creating an eyeliner look. Several people here have re-sculpted Batman's eyes to be less wide on the DX figures. Other figures such as Captain Jack and Joker DX 1 and 2 have been amazing.

The PERs system is a wildcard. When it works, great. It just makes everyone a bit concerned when they find out a figure they've looked forward to is going to be DX.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS152 - Superman: 1/6th scale Superman Collectible Figure

i absolutely love the pers on the dx11 ~ it's perfect for the character and looks/works great.

don't know if superman needs it (he's so awesome just as is), but it's hard to judge without seeing what it might have looked like.

christopher's reeves performance was mostly a gorgeous steely gaze, so roving eyeballs don't seem required here.

Exactly! Almost hypnotic! I'd love the DX11,
The DX08 really suits it, head down eyes up, looks so sinister. But Superman doesn't need it in my view.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS152 - Superman: 1/6th scale Superman Collectible Figure

This guy is looking up at me from my bookshelf in my room. Every morning as I get ready for work his steely gaze motivates me to attack the day! A perfect likeness.
