That would actually be quite an easy custom I suspect, with existing HT bits & pieces as of the moment. :lecture :lol

Re: Hot Toys MMS188 The Dark Knight Rises: Selina Kyle/Catwoman Figure Full Specs & P

Sorry Mike, but I disagree with you on this one. Some of the price increase is directly related to the buyer. It has to be by definition. Why?

The world of ultra-high end, 1/6 scale figure collecting is a niche market, at best. Not everyone has the time, means nor inclination to spend $250 on a 1 foot tall figure from a film, no matter how beautiful it looks or how well made it is.

And this very fact means that if a figure, or a series of figures - typically in this case it's BATMAN...but it could just as easily be MGS, or The Avengers - will be targeted very specifically and the company that is making them is effectively "shooting fish in a barrel" namely, they have a built-in captive audience that wants to buy.

It is up to them how much any increase will be, but the certainty is that they will try and recoup as much profit as possible every single time, because they know people - this target audience - will mostly pay the amended price.

How many others here have moaned about pricing...and then just POed or outright bought the figure? I know that I certainly have. Any company will exploit its loyal fan-base to the max. That's where their profit lies...with the "I Will Buy" section.

I don't disagree with that completely. I was stating that it wasn't right to simply say that because someone can afford something, they shouldn't PO or buy at all so the prices could potentially come down so all could afford these. This market isn't for everyone. Like I said, I'm sure I'll be priced out of it too. I'm just not there yet.

I could care less about a removable mask. It is not like I am going to dress her up in a maid outfit or plain clothes anyway.

Wasn't sure if I was going to get her or not, but that exclusive cowl pushed me over the edge.

the cowl was what got me too, damn you hot toys!

Re: Hot Toys MMS188 The Dark Knight Rises: Selina Kyle/Catwoman Figure Full Specs & P

This looks real nice. I think I may get it.

I can just imagine the complaints/commentary that would come when this figure was in hand if the mask was removable.

"I took the mask off and there's black marks on the face. eff you HT and your shotty QC!!! :gah:"

"I took the mask off and now I can't get the hair looking right. there are little strays everywhere  damn you HT!"

"Boardie #1: my mask isn't fitting properly...anyone else have this problem?

Boardie #2: yea my mask covers up most of her eyes when I try to put it on her. why HT didn't just glue the mask on in the first place is beyond me. Would've made things much easier

Boardie #3: I just glued the mask on. Figured I wouldn't have her w/o the mask that much anyway"

and so on an so forth...

I just laughed out loud on this one. It's definitely how people react to it.

just an option to do this is nice:

it's such a simple reasonable and doable option too. it's beginning to irritate me why the pro-masked are so adamant defending their stance, making excuses after excuses to tell people why the removable mask is not needed. another option is always a plus.

There's always going to be a part of the population that complains about something. I kinda wish it just came with two sculpts. It's hard for a removable mask to look as good as a molded on mask sculpt.

I can see this all happening if the mask is to be removable. I believe a removable mask on a 1/6 scale Catwomen would look weird. Head scale is kinda too small to try to make that mask fit flush on the face without moving or messing up the hair and such. HT will not take that risk and start having complaints of customer complaining of cheap fits/glue/etc putting/removing the mask messes up things. HT should have at least included a second head sculpt without the mask, but they won't do that because businesses are trying to give out as little as possible while making the a buncha money from us.

Mark my words on this...Base on what I see for the 1/4 scale DKR Batman, the 1/4 Catwomen could have a movable mask because the head is big enough that the average collector can easily put the mask back on and off without damaging anything.

I feel that HT is now going to start a new way of selling off 1/6 scale and their 1/4 counterpart:

1/6 will give out as LITTLE as possible for your money to maximize profit per figure.

1/4 scale will try to justify its price for the size, details, bells and whistles with it. HT don't expect much profit from this scale because very few people are willing to part out this much money and space to collect them. What do you do if you can't? Go to the 1/6 scale version with little amount of bells and whistles.

On.cc said the mask will be removable. Not sure if serious, but why not have a little faith?

Re: Hot Toys MMS188 The Dark Knight Rises: Selina Kyle/Catwoman Figure Full Specs & P

The reporter said he was worrying about the mask would leave some marks on the nose.

Re: Hot Toys MMS188 The Dark Knight Rises: Selina Kyle/Catwoman Figure Full Specs & P

and he also said that HT is still fixing the headsculpt :yess:

Please don't be like Resident Evil Alice. The final product looked nothing like Alice and the prototype was actually so much better.:slap:slap:gah:

Re: Hot Toys MMS188 The Dark Knight Rises: Selina Kyle/Catwoman Figure Full Specs & P

I like the figure. Im not gonna PO though, I'll just wait to pick it up later.

Re: Hot Toys MMS188 The Dark Knight Rises: Selina Kyle/Catwoman Figure Full Specs & P

Ah ha...So the hair line is partially sculpted....Judging by the recent photos,if you look closely it looks as if the mask can be removed....Not that it matters to me,I Already ordered it.I just hope if they change the sculpt it's for the better.

Re: Hot Toys MMS188 The Dark Knight Rises: Selina Kyle/Catwoman Figure Full Specs & P

Honestly, the rooted hair doesn't look great IF you care at all about the obvious hairline and how her face is like a "mask" and hair is growing out underneath the mask.... I know it comes down to personal taste but don't think anyone can deny seeing what I described based on these pictures at least.

I know a fully sculpted would probably look bad too considering the length of the characters hair...but also because of how the character wears her hair (pulled back and such)...the sculpted hair line on the edge of the "mask-like" face and the gap between that and the rooted hair...looks pretty bad.

Anyways...not hating on it, just reflecting on it and realizing that there probably isn't a lot of ways to circumvent this....I guess this one was harder because the past rooted hair figures from Hot Toys had the convenience of having hair that covers most of the hairline. Maybe on display it won't be too obvious.

Re: Hot Toys MMS188 The Dark Knight Rises: Selina Kyle/Catwoman Figure Full Specs & P

I love the bases that HT are giving the TDKR figures. They represent the film perfectly (only the best for the best). :lol

:lol Looks just like the cowl I got off eBay for $30. Big deal.

Her eyes look great, body too. The goggles look like cheap plastic garbage and the hairline, again, ruins the whole head sculpt. No way around it though I suppose. All in all I still think she have a nice shelf presence and fun to pose. Still an easy pass though along with Bane.

Nice pic from STGCC 2012 by DRaGoN SiM.

People really don't need to come here telling us this is an easy pass for you or what. JUST PASS IT ALREADY.:wave
