I need to look for some of this tamiya paint ppl keep talking about. see how good it is first hand.
Also, @EKT: lovely pics and love the 2 piece shoulder pads.

I had a dodgy left shoulder, it was completely off, I didn't discover it until I removed the chest armor to have a poke around. I decided to fix it and in doing so ended up taking the entire figure to pieces.
Cut and separated the shoulder pads, shortened the elastic strips and kevlar connectors, makes a massive improvement.
Took the body suit off and removed the under padding. At last no more thunder thighs, very happy to learn that he suit fits just fine without the padding. And added my combo modded DX02/DX12 boots (another mod for you mags).
Pretty happy with him now at last. The only thing I haven't done is the chest logo straightening. Mine is glued waay to tight to do it, but that never really bothered me anyway.
By the way if anyone thinks they have damaged the Kevlar parts (I've noticed a few "stress" marks on some people's pics" there is a very easy fix, it's not a permanent problem.
Looks great man.i did the same thing..taking out the padding but i decided to put the body padding back so the belt fits nice there..without it..the belt is too loose...left the padding on the calves too
no more thunder thighs
tutorial possibly?
I took off the chest armor piece. Then you need to cut the fabric somewhere it's not noticed, there is a perfect place behind the central "spine" armor. I sliced down, then shimmied the outfit down, you have to be very careful not to break any of the rib connectors (little internal discs which secure the outer hard plastic ribs) there is some glue involved, I used a modelling tool to reach down underneath suit as I pulled. So no damage to the suit at all. The I pulled out the under suit. The glued seam is completely invisible (and under armor).
How'd you widen the cowl?
Took everything out (PERS/PERS plate, neck support, magnet holders etc.)
Basically a hollowed cowl. I thinned out (dremmeled) the inside a little more, used boiling water and reshaped it, it's subtle but noticable IMO. looks a little bit more like there is a head inside? The cowl gets pretty soft when heated.
I've managed to take all the innards out of the sculpt - cept the eyes - and trying to make it wider. It's pretty flexible.
Yes that's what I did, but it's essential that you that PERS plate out before heating, it is made of very soft vinyl and will be damaged by excessive heat. The cowl itself is a lot more pliable.
In Daggett voice:
How the hell do you take pics like that with your iPhone? I mean are you tweaking the settings, using a tripod??
Looks great though man
I've taken a step back from modding my DX12 right now
PS: I'm seriously asking about the pics though. Mine always come out grainy and I dunno why when you're getting such good pics using the same device.
Many thanks - I've placed a large pen lid in there to widen the cowl and it is currently sitting in the freezer. I've not used any heat.
Hopefully it should work.
I've also found a magnet which sits nicely in the cowl.
Yours is the best DX cowl I've seen - are you getting Robbie's faceplate? And how did you add the eyelids?
