Re: Molecule8 - 1/6th Scale John Lennon

Seems like they hit the reset button. I'm done pounding them until I see a finished proto and firm release date. Which I'm guessing is May 2018...

They could have saved themselves and many others time by just admitting that months ago.

Not good. They are getting into potential Shrunken Head Studios territory now. No completed prototype several months in, three releases up for pre-order I think, no history of showing that they can deliver, and now they are giving up the hopes of delivering anything in a reasonable timeframe with the excuse that they won't release anything until it is perfect.

I'm cancelling my BBTS pre-order at this point.

Re: Molecule8 - 1/6th Scale John Lennon

Maybe I'm naive here (and I was never fully buying into their story), but I thought they at least did have a professional plan for development, and that the figure would be produced and released in a reasonable timeframe. Say, a year out. But saying that they are just going to wait now until they are satisfied somehow crosses a line in my mind. Obviously, they are saying this for the purpose of trying to assuage concerns, so that customers will feel that they are getting a good product. But personally, I would rather they had a more realistic series of expectations, and not go chasing some mythical, perfect figure that they can somehow produce for a price that seems way too low for what is promised. If they never get there, and we're 5 years out, what happens to those folks who took the gamble early on? Better to get a 2005-era SSC figure a year out than nothing.

I got a feeling you're right. You think they would have had a modest announcement of the Lennon license and disappeared for a bit. They could have focused on a single sculpt, outfit and guitar until they had a solid prototype, then posted pics/specs and a PO date. Why the hell they are ****ing around with the thought of a grand piano is beyond me.lol

Re: Molecule8 - 1/6th Scale John Lennon

I think this comment is pretty right on the nose:

Nobody knew doll making could be so complicated.
"Oh, it's just a doll! Look at those idiot collectors who are willing to pay $500-1,000 for a custom toy. We can do that for a fraction of the cost! Sure, we've never done it before, but how hard could it be? It's just a doll!"

Very analogous to the situation with our head of state believing that healthcare issues could be solved simply, with no loss in coverage, but a decrease in costs, and improvements in outcomes, etc.

Re: Molecule8 - 1/6th Scale John Lennon

On a related note, I've been watching Tom Snyder interviews this morning, and just got onto this one:

John was an illegal immigrant, who used marijuana. Pretty much the worst possible kind of scum alive under our Jeff Sessions and the current administration! Get him outta here!

Re: Molecule8 - 1/6th Scale John Lennon

Do they even know what a prototype is? Maybe they're mistakenly using the term to refer to something else?

I already did- so now those who sent them $300 have no date at all when the proto will be all done let alone a production piece....talk about a complete joke

Finally, sensible decision making.

Re: Molecule8 - 1/6th Scale John Lennon

These clowns were dishonest about things from day one. And the boasting was really off putting, especially now that it's clear they have nothing to back it all up. I hope everyone who wants their money back gets it. There were folks that defended them in a reasonable manner like pixel twin. But there were a couple guys who would be funny to go back in the thread and quote. But nah, I won't.

Re: Molecule8 - 1/6th Scale John Lennon

I believe the people who collaborated on this had good intentions. They just didn't understand what went in to producing a figure. I didn't order this because I had no interest in Lennon, but I was hoping for great success. I wanted to eventually see figures that I was interested in purchasing. Now it looks like this may be too much for M8 to survive.
