Re: Molecule8 - 1/6th Scale John Lennon

They won't save face...they are incorrigible and apparently unphased by this disaster...the fact that they did not send someone to immediately update the "time scale" (the one they keep saying they don't have) on their website so that it does not say August anymore...maybe "TBD" would be better, tells me they have learned nothing so far...

Re: Molecule8 - 1/6th Scale John Lennon

Now it looks like this may be too much for M8 to survive.

Nah, you just keep producing stuff. People will buy it.

If people cared about quality, Sideshow wouldn't still be around. Phicen wouldn't still be around. Hot Toys probably still wouldn't be around. Hell, we're talking about a company who's Batman figure "melted" and they've gone on to make 2 or 3 more versions of that specific character. Whose Iron Man figures faded, and people are STILL buying them, even after the same problem has happened multiple times.

Collectors have very short-term memories. They see a character they like, and they buy it. It's that simple. People still bought the Nathan Drake figure, even AFTER they could see it sucked. People still bought the Snowspeeder Luke, AFTER they saw the X-Wing Luke sucked.

People on this forum are not representative of the market as a whole. Lennon is probably popular enough that folks will scoop up the figure once it's finally released. The majority of the chatter here is people just having a laugh, passing the time, trying to score useless internet points by being funny or outrageous. There's a significant amount of hyperbole here. For example, saying Lennon looks like 2005-era Sideshow. Let's remember that in 2005, Sideshow looked like this

_MG_3944.jpg

And in 2015, Sideshow looked like this

XWingLuke.jpg

Now, M8 is showing this, which looks better than Sideshow in 2015.

The point being, I think the face on Lennon is good, the eyes look realistically dark and glossy, I can see some nice shading around where facial hair growth should be, the eyebrow area is nicely "fuzzy", aka, it's not just a sharply painted line. The cheeks look sufficiently blushed, there's nice shading in the nose area. It all looks decently realistic. It kinda falls apart at the hair, where it looks like they applied a simple wash to bring out the texture instead of using multiple shades to bring out the variety of detail, but maybe that can still be improved.

Now, granted it seems like we've seen three different painted heads for Lennon. Who knows which version we're going to get? I don't know. Why are we even blowing up at this point, when we literally haven't even seen a finished product?

At this point, their narrative has fallen apart, and they are showing us a WIP in real time, but that's fine. Let's wait until the finished product. I can't count how many times, people have said "It looks better in hand". I've seen a lot of **** photos from people on this forum who insist a figure is great and I just can't see it, but they insist "My photos don't do it justice, in hand it's great". Oooookay. . .

Re: Molecule8 - 1/6th Scale John Lennon

That's interesting, Budget Stark was at ACGHK, and said the release date was Q3, "not August, not Q4"

Re: Molecule8 - 1/6th Scale John Lennon

i took the picture today, may be they've just changed it.

Or maybe he didn't know what he was talking about :p

Or it could be that this is the distributor's booth and not Molecule8, and they're listing their expected date, not M8's "official" date.

Re: Molecule8 - 1/6th Scale John Lennon

I think the factory made molds of the heads, cut the necks of those heads, molded them again to PVC and now this is where we're at. So, we're two generations away from the master, so you have noticeable loss of fine detail, mainly in the hair.

This concept of 3d-scanning the head is, as far as I'm aware, gibberish. I'd wager it's people who don't know what they're talking about, trying to make sense of what they're seeing, using concepts they are familiar with. And seeing as how 3d-printing is all the rage right now, people are using those terms.

On top of that, you have Molecule8 using 'weasel words' and production techno-jargon to try and alleviate concerns. I'm sure there are multiple iterations of the head out there. There's one on display with light brown, almost reddish hair, then the literally in-hand version where it's a darker brown. So, they're referring to all of these as 'tests'. It's common to have multiple tests made.

Re: Molecule8 - 1/6th Scale John Lennon

How many customers asked to see a whole process of development?

Molecule8 Hi

Please dont be concerned as we're not

:)

We want people to see the whole process of development from start to finish, we have nothing to hide from you guys, if that means showing a test head before the finished prototype then we will.

Thank you

Re: Molecule8 - 1/6th Scale John Lennon

It seems like they commissioned KA Kim and did some renders. Then, probably before they paid her the balance, they made some false promises of a release date of May 2017 to generate capital. Now having the finances, they set about developing prototypes and clothes. That would likely then make sense of what they're showing us in the time it's taking.

The simple thing is the misled the people who handed over $300. Doesn't matter what other people here and on FB argue to the contrary, but that is simply dishonest and probably borderline fraudulent. They don't have what the led people to believe they would have in the timeframe they specified.

I think they still stand a chance of getting a finished product, but what quality? When? And before everyone backs out and they go bankrupt in the process? Because my bet is that most of the money has been spent on development.

Re: Molecule8 - 1/6th Scale John Lennon

That's what people ***** about most these days

:lecture

This is what I mentioned a few pages back. They're showing the whole process, and now people are upset because it doesn't look good. And M8 is like "It's not done yet, you'll like it when it's done"

And now people are like "********, I don't trust you"

This is why companies aren't transparent about the process.

"probably borderline fraudulent"

So, essentially, not fraudulent.

If we cried fraud, every time a company didn't hit their estimated release date, they would stop telling us when the release date is.

Re: Molecule8 - 1/6th Scale John Lennon

"Your Honor, we the jury, find the defendant, Molecule8 . . . GUILTY of probable borderline fraudulent behavior."

Re: Molecule8 - 1/6th Scale John Lennon

Why would a factory that makes these head as a business , take it upon themselves to change an alter a clients order ?
